    Default Dragon Ball Z The Legends/Legends PS1/Saturn

Anyone heard of this? It only got released in Japan on PS1, but the Saturn version saw a release in Japan as well as a few select European countries.

Unlike traditional DBZ games, this is NOT a 1 on 1 fighter; it's more of a tactical combat game, with you being able to use up to 3 characters as a team and take on the opposing enemy team.

It's kind of like a giant game of tug-of-war, successful hits fill up the gauge at the bottom - when it's full, you can unleash an special attack to deal damage, but you have to counter and out-maneuver the other team to do so; failure do so enables them to fill up their part of the gauge agaisnt you. Add in the fact that the action is all in real time, allowing you to swap out between any character at the press of a button to balance out your team, with up to 3 fighters on each team at atime and the game can get a little hectic (which is good!).

Even if you don't like DBZ, it's a game that should not be overlooked. I've ordered the Saturn version and suggest anyone to hunt the game down as well; it's a gem that should not be ignored.

The European Saturn version is actually one of the rarest European Saturn releases but since no one wants it it can be had for pretty cheap.

this game is awesome, it's very fun to play and is a blast on both 1 player mode and vs mode. I bought my jp saturn copy back in the late 90's with a action replay cart just to play it, to this day it's still my favorite dbz game because no other game from the series really replicated the fast paced battles that this game has.

I also bought the game for playstation and would eventually like to get the pal saturn version but I haven't found it at a price i'm willing to pay yet, also one interesting note I did see a english translated pal version on ebay a couple years back. here's a thread about it with some pictures:

That's the more rarer Spanish version; it's not English.

I don't understand why this is. It's a great little game, a little rough around the edges, but good for the price. If people avoid it because it's a DBZ game, then they're fools. Simple as.

it's starting to look like we're the only two people on here who enjoy this game.

how much does this go for? I recall like 2001, it was going for a rather high price but I guess that was due to DBZ mania still going on.
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

it's usually about $15-$20 these days so it's fairly cheap.

Oh I'm not saying it's a bad game, I do intend to get it eventually. I'm just pointing out that the average Saturn owner tends to skip over it thinking it's in the same kind of situation as common third party titles like Street Fighter the Movie, Mortal Kombat 3, etc. that they don't realize it's actually one of the rarest European Saturn titles. As a result it can be had relatively cheaply.

I have this game for the Saturn from back in the day. It's a really good one player game but the two player mode isn't that great so it didn't get as much play as other DBZ fighters; this would have been a great game to include a link-up play mode between two Saturns! But it has some really cool stuff like the entire DBZ cast of characters, destructible environments, and massive play areas. I don't think there is a limit to how far away you can fly from your opponents or at least you can get very far away. I do wish there was an English language option.
    Slayer-1: "Minus 210 degrees...minus 215...minus 220. Why are you still standing?"

    Bones: "My will...will not die."
