    Default Quake Co-op speedrun

Now this is pretty interesting. One clears the way so the other can complete objectives faster, and they're even shooting eachother to give themselves air-boosts. They're doing maps as fast as 5 seconds! Sonic, eat your heart out.

The first quake is one of the best FPS's of all-time... The second one and up sucked balls.
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

See, to me this is impressive - far more so than the one-player speed runs that have been done ad nauseum. This is fresh, unique, and really brilliantly executed. Almost made me cry.

Now, if only the resolution was higher...

Not even a shred of Quake 2 love?

It may have looked a lot better and very overrated as well, but the original Quake just couldn't be beat... the setting throughout the whole game was amazing and perfect, and a lot more impressive than some futuristic setting that has been done many times by 1997 roll around.

I go to school with someone, and he's the same way. He loves the first games, but the rest of them are bad.

Quake 3 was an excellent title in its own right, even if it did little for the integrity of the original.

It's pretty much exactly the same with the Unreal series. The first game is mainly built on an awesome mystical/fantasy atmosphere, which the sequel did very little to preserve. And then there's the Tournament spinoff which is insanely more popular than the original.

WRONG! Where's a picture of Kevin Spacey when I need it?

I'm kidding, of course, you're entitled to your opinion, even if it does make lifelong enemies. I happen to enjoy all four Quake games (2 most of all), they're all a helluva lot of fun in their own right even if they ceased being revolutionary after the first one (which I can openly admit).

That said, I'm actually really impressed with this. I was aware of the old 'shoot your friend to move farther' trick, but this is the best I've seen it implemented.

As for Quake 3... I got Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament on the SAME day, back in 1999, and I can tell you that I spent more time with UT, mostly because it was more fun, and the head shots where the best.

I did buy UT2004, and followed the mapping community for a few months, but gave up on it, after the first community map pack. My current video card sucks balls, so it's hard to play the game... argh!

Quake 2 is a good game, and Quake 3 Arena is a good online multiplayer game.
