    The Equalizer (2014)

It's Denzel. That's good enough for me.

    Election

Thought it would be some dumb comedy but no, it gets really weird.

The Hobbit - Tolkien Edit. Much better paced film, without those "aditions" for the better.

I just saw American Sniper . Very good, they kinda glossed over the whole PTSD thing but it really showed how important a sniper was for the war effort. That Clint Eastwood can really make movies.

    He really can!
Add to the mix he's regarded as an actors director. He gets the best out of his cast and crew.
A favorite of the studios as well because he never goes over time and budget.

What amazes me even more about Clint Eastwood is how tireless, and motivated, he is at his age. The guy's pushing 90 and he still approaches filmmaking with an ambition and hunger that newcomers usually try to display to get recognition from their peers. John Carpenter is nearly 20 years younger, and he threw in the towel about 15 years ago.

He's produced work more recently than that before hanging it up, his last movie the Ward came out in 2010. The Ward sucked @$$ tho.

Amen. It's why i have no desire to see american sniper or any other US made film that romanticizes the wars. Its probably well made or whatever, but i dont want some hollywood crap affecting the way i think about real world events. And I just hate all the jingoism in amerikugh. Pretty much any big budget flick that shows real military equipment & vehicles means that before production began the script was given to the pentagon to review and make changes to. They'll go over it and insert any pro military PR messages they want, or if any message is critical of our foreign policy they'll insist its omitted or changed. In exchange they lend super expensive vehicles.

    Evil Roy Slade

...has some really great humor...definitely 70's humor. My dad lost it when Roy stole the midget's horse. It's obviously a made-for-tv affair that drags a bit at times, and didn't really live up to the potential of the original unproduced pilot (I wanted more killing), but it's definitely worth watching.

    Black Cauldron

...an 80's film that I've surprisingly never watched until now (considering my love for 80's films, especially the abandoned ones like Munchausen, which is easily my of my all-time top 10 films). I liked the dark tone and the animation, but the plot and characters are severely lacking. There's really nothing about it that forces me to watch it even a second time. I think it's a bit overrated as far as forgotten 80's films go...the story of how it was abandoned by Disney is more interesting than the film itself.

Van Damme was a great villain, and the fights at the end were actually pretty well done, but my favorite "Karate Kid" movie will always be Sidekicks.

    Meh

I've been wondering about the legality of watching films on Youtube. Canada has institutled a "new copyright notice-and-notice system" as of January 1 2015 and alot of Canadians are left wondering where video streaming is still legal. Streaming a video via a platform like Netflix is pretty clear cut since it has obtained permission to make the content available. But what about Youtube? In Canada the pendulum has shifted from a very lax system to one that is quite stringent. In terms of free platforms like Youtube, the water unfortunately remains quite muddy.

Just watched the Robocop remake since it's free on netflix.

It's sleek looking, but man is it ever shallow. They really neutered this movie compared to the original. The closest this thing comes to the biting social commentary the original had were the talk show bits with Samuel L Jackson, but even most of those were pretty lame.

It spent so much time on the family relationship stuff that really didn't tie into anything that really mattered.

It seemed confused as to what it really wanted to get across other than being a reasonably slick looking action movie.

It's a shame since it had some good actors, and there were parts of it that really could have been a great movie. But it had no edge, no spark. The original is superior in every way but special effects (Which isn't much of a shock to be sure).

I just saw American Sniper. The best film I've seen in years.
