Yeah okay I know this the what have seen thread but this post is a would like to see.
I want to watch Stan & Ollie.
Yeah, The Thing is fantastic, I can see why it is Carpenter’s favorite, I can’t imagine why this film was so reviled when it originally came out.
I’m torn between this one or Big Trouble in Little China being my personal favorite.
I also saw Glass.
It was... okay.
It faced criticism on two fronts. While the visual effects seem pretty tame by today's standards - back then they were deemed pretty gross and shocking so it was dissed for that.
It also was viewed as a radical remake of the original "The Thing" (full title was actually "The Thing From Another World") which was one of a small handful of what are/were considered fifties classic scifi movies. In truth it was a revision and was actually a much more faithful adaptation of both films' source - a 1938 novella by John W. Campbell (who in his day was one of the giants of science fiction literature) entitled "Who Goes There"? The novella is well worth reading and will probably give you an even greater appeciation of Carpenter's rendition of it on film.
*For what it is worth this was the first film that Mrs. Armitage and I saw in a theatre after we got married.

Eh, I don't think Rick Bakers The Thing visuals effects are tame at all. They are still great and still rather creative and shocking to those who see it the first time. Even me who has seen thousands of horror films of the era and grew up on them they still amaze me. Baker's work stands the test of time. The head ripping off the body and turning into the spider still looks creepy as hell.
Cue one of my favourite lines in the film...
Mrs. Armitage and I saw "They Shall Not Grow Old" today. Simply incredible.
If you have any interest in history this is a must see. (If you do go see it stick around for the making of feature at the end of the credits.)
We were particulary taken with the poor health of a lot of the troops (even as recruits) - this was particularly noticeable in their dental problems.
What a miserable experience it must have been.

Halo Legends

Second of the Halo movies I own, the first was Halo: The Fall of Reach... which really didn't live up to its title. I haven't read the book and I've only played Halo 2 many years ago. I don't really know any of the story but now I guess I know a little more!
I just finished watching The 8 bit Generation: The Commodore Wars, on You Tube. It's a real shame that a lot of computer documentaries talk about Apple and IBM's importance in home computing and just totally overlook the impact that Commodore had on home computers.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."
"Bucktown" and then "Three The Hard Way"
