Watched the 1977 "The War in Space", by Jun Fukuda, for the very first time tonight. It was a fantastic piece of space opera trash. I enjoyed every bit of it.

I think that was "Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
Watched Ishiro Honda's 1969 Latitude Zero for the very first time tonight. It had giant rats boiling in purple acid water, a brain transplant from a female submarine captain into a lion, submarine battles, etc. The original's audio wasn't Japanese nor subtitled, which I found interesting. It was a bit slow, had a great second half and just a meh ending. Having never seen it before, I watched it with my boys. It would have been a better idea to have watched it with them when they were older. My youngest said he didn't really like it and wanted to watch another Godzilla movie next time. I told him that was a good idea. Godzilla vs. Megalon, on Blu-Ray, is up next.
Got a free ticket to see: Free Guy
Genius programmer has his new game stolen by evil guy who uses it to build an evil corporation. The hero hacks into the evil coroporation's virtual world to find the evidence needed to prove the evil guy stole everything.
There is also a romantic sub-plot as one of the good guys is working for the evil corporation and has to be convinced to help get the evidence and take the evil guy down.
And let's not forget, there is the NPC hero who has to come to the realization that "real" people are just as fallible as they are in the virtual world.
Of course, I am talking about: TRON
Free Guy ripped off just about every main theme from TRON. Free Guy is a well-made movie but within twenty minutes, you see all the pieces then have to sit through the rest knowing exactly where they will all be by the end.
TRON's virtual world inspired the gaming industry. Free Guy's world is merely a reflection filled with "clever" fan-service and easter eggs.
Of course, it wouldn't be complete without a woke agenda. The male has been reduced to a milquetoast dud that actually works for evil guy that stole his stuff. He's so wimpy that he takes a position in tech support (even the evil guy says he could do better). He has to be rescued by the real hero female, a real bad-ass gamer that hasn't given up like the male. Likewise, even the NPC male has to be schooled and later rescued by the same female hero.
Couldn't have said it better myself.![]()

Threads.
Something about this version of a nuclear war surpassed Nicholas Myers' The Day After. 1980's Western Europe would have been an interesting place to experience.
I got the free tickets for the movie Free Guy because I was there in Boston when they filmed it. A friend said I would be perfect for the job with my experience. I naively thought I was going to be some kind of consultant when really all I did was drive a couple of VIP's around that listened to a lot of Karen Carpenter. I didn't mind the music, actually, though one song in particular got stuck in my head for weeks afterwards.

Finally watched Roddy Piper's Hell Comes to Frog town.
I was hoping for something as good as They Live but it was pretty, meh. Even guessing the secret villain was easy and predictable.
On the plus side, the mutant frog costumes were 5 star.
I watched Malcolm McDowell as HG Wells fight Jack The Ripper in 1979 San Francisco
I watched 8-Bit Christmas last week. The movie is hilarious!

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."
Saw two new movies in the theater recently, Ghostbusters Afterlife and Spider-man No Way Home. Afterlife was an embarrasment, I didn't even laugh one time. Did they not realize that Ghostbusters is a comedy? All those unnecessary call backs to the original movie, too, like the candy bar were just nauseating. RIP Harold Ramis, too bad this wasn't funny.
Spider-man was really fun. I really enjoyed the action and the comedy. I saw Homecoming on television a while ago and it was great, too. I never saw the Garfield movies but I get it and maybe I will seek them out now. Where was Nicholas Hammond though?
Oh yeah, and the tickets were $21. What the heck?! Fortunately, my friend had movie passes for both of us or I doubt I would have gone along. At least a bucket of popcorn is still only ten bucks like the good ol' days.![]()

Watched 1957's Monster From Green Hell with the wife last night. At the end she told me, "That's 71 minutes of my life, that I will never get back."
