Sorry...forgot that I also have up on Ebay a faceplate for a Model 1 Sega CD as well.
The link above that I provided should list this as well.

Thanks for the link! I have the CD unit in my watch list but it says ships to NA only? Bummer.
Does anyone have a working Model 1 Sega CD main board for sale? The PCB that plugs into the gender adapter, which then plugs into the Genesis. Mine is toast. The drive in my SCD is a Sony type.
One of these..

No, I want a replacement for this:

I'm in Australia but you are correct, the shipping would probably be more than the item itself. US shipping is so expensive!! It always puts me off buying things unless I see a seller that is not charging $25+ for a damn PS360 game, for example. With something like the CD drive, I would want express postage too in hopes it would arrive quickly before getting damaged, and I know THAT is expensive from the US![]()
Does qzack have anything else you are keen on? Get the value out of the weight worth of shipping? For example i bought a heap of control pads off some dude in the states and we worked out how many we could fit in the box before exceeding that weight limit. Worked out i paid $6 a control pad.
Thank you for donating to the Sega 16 bit manuals!
I wish you luck my friend. I just bought a broken Model 1 with a CD Tray issue and paid double for it because some guy kept going in and bidding. He raised the price well
over what I wanted to pay but it was the only "decent" unit listed. Every other model 1 unit I saw looked like it had been abused, broken or destroyed and that was just from the auction pictures posted.
I just got to work for the day. I'm going to ask our "mail guy" what the rates are for shipping to you. The drive is not that big so it is possible I can get it into a small box as opposed to a medium one which would cost more. On the other hand if you find that you want the drive cables or anything else, it may be a help for us to just stuff as much as we can in one box and pay one flat rate. I don't know how long it would take to get to you. I have ordered some things out of London and it took a good week to 10 days to get it. I did some other items out of Hong Kong and it took a solid two weeks to get that stuff in. I know it has to go through customs but if declared as a gift they usually don't hold it. I sold a video card off ebay to a guy who lives in Brazil for $45. Well he paid $40 just for shipping. I felt bad for him but he really wanted that card and I really wanted positive feedback.
If I was planning on visiting Australia soon, I'd just bring the stuff with me and deliver it to your door.![]()

Haha, door to door service eh? Now that's customer service! Thanks for the info though, I will definitely keep an eye on it and hopefully be able to bid. It will depend on finances. I just ordered 3 lasers, proper "made in Japan" models for only $20 each and $10 for airmail from China.
I think for me, items from the US generally take the longest via airmail. I was actually surprised how long shipping within the US itself took. I remember ordering something from Yes Asia when I was over there. I think the US site is based in California and I was in Indiana. It took 8 days to get to me after it was posted. Using the free airmail from the HK site takes less than that to get to me in Australia.
If you're replying to me, I'm in Canada. Shipping is pretty reasonable from the US compared to Australia.
I guess I was replying to both of you as I didn't check my reply.....long day yesterday I guess.
I know that your after a main board Guntz but I do not have any on hand. The ones I did have on hand did not work.

The problem my SCD1 has is the BIOS crashes the instant it displays on the screen, no SCD half of the BIOS music either. I tried replacing the BIOS, no change. Strangely, it works with the Pier Solar PCM CD, as if there was nothing wrong. That should mean everything but the BIOS is working, like the RAMs and custom chips.
There might be something wrong inside the gender adapter, seeing how only the BIOS is having problems and it isn't broken. I might buy your spare gender adapter if I find an unrepairable problem with mine.
If the gender adapter is fine, then this SCD1 really is a puzzle. What else could the problem be?
There is no patch board on the SEGA-CD is there? When I installed my BIOS chip, the 2 wires from the patch to the connector board broke off. They were extremely fragile and fell off with the slightest tug. There are 2 wires, the black wire soldered to T4 or 14 ( I'll have to look it up) came off first and when that happened, the cloud background turned into a mass of corruption and froze. When the T3 wire came off, it was black screen with nothing, slight light flicker on the front and then dead.
If there is no wired patch board there MUST be something equivalent that needs fixing. I have also read about the flicking lights/black screen scenario from SEGA-CD owners. Once I soldered those wires back into place, it turned on and the logo screen worked perfectly again.
