SNES will always be my favourite console of all time. Really the only thing I dislike about it is the muffled audio caused by the interpolation and the fact that there's no way to fix it. What do I love about the snes? The same thing I love about any console, all the awesome games you can get for it!

Which system had the biggest library of games to begin with?

I really don't recall when I'd bought the SNES.

I had the Genesis since early 1990 and saw no need for the expensive SNES during its first year. I really wasn't impressed by the demo kiosks showing off Super Mario World and was pretty content with all of the games I had on the Genny. I think I may have finally bought the SNES in late 1991 or early 1992. I remember Street Fighter 2 being one of the first titles titles I'd bought for the system, along with Final Fantasy II (US). The Genesis was still my goto console during that time, with titles like Madden that I'd play with friends, Desert Strike and Shining in the Darkness.

I think it was around late 93, where the SNES took over as my main gaming console. Titles like Rock N' Roll Racing, Super Empire Strikes Back and Street Fighter II Turbo led the charge heading into 94, where titles like Super Metroid, Super Punchout and Final Fantasy III had me hooked on the SNES and it wouldn't be until I got a Sega CD, that I would go back to playing alot of the Genesis. 1994 to 1995 was where the SNES library really flexed it might and cemented the system as my #3 console of all-time, behind the Saturn and PS2. I really think the SNES was Nintendo's finest moment as a game publisher.

I know there's a lot of hate for the SNES soundchip on these boards, but I really love what it could do at the time. The Genesis had its moments with Technosoft's soundtracks being amongst the best of the era, but there's just so many memorable tunes from the SNES that I still adore to this day.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

I don't hate the SNES, though I do hate the NTSC design. Should have kept the nice SFC design instead.

Not one of my favorite consoles, but it has some of my favorite games of all time.

Snes is great for sure--if you're an open minded gamer who is willing to explore the system's library.

I was referring to Rajin's comment on the snes system design. First model looks awful but the SNES Jr. fixes that problem.

Maybe, but it's dumbed down, and doesn't have S-Video, which is enough of a flaw for me not to care about it entirely.

Playing Super Mario Kart battle kart back in the day, and Super Metroid, Stunt Race FX, Star Fox and a few others will be some of my fondest videogaming memories.
However in recent years when I've had my SNES hooked up and playing stuff that I should love: Hyper Iria, Spriggan Powered, Ninja Warriors Again, Do Re Mi Fantasy, Cybernator, Dezaemon, Space Megaforce, Knights of the Round... I've always quickly felt that I'd rather be playing PC-Engine, Sega-CDX, or Saturn.

In fact I've been strongly considering selling my entire SNES/SFC collection. It is my least played group of games, and potentially the most valuable considering how Nintendo fans seem to be growing in retrogame purchasing power.

At the same time there are some great oddball games which have a special place in my collection for one reason or another. Ball and paddle games like Supapon, Zig-Zag Cat, Sanrio Smash Ball, Block Kuzushi and others... mouse games like Mario & Wario, Shien's Revenge, and King Author's World... and the odd action, puzzle, arcade conversion, or racing games like Spanky's Quest, Q*Bert 3, Natsume Championship Wrestling, Goof Troop, Biker Mice From Mars, Air Strike Patrol, Battle Pinball, The Fireman, Mr. Do Nitchibutsu Arcade Classics 1 & 2, Dossun Ganseki Battle, Cosmo Gang the Video, ...those are the games which keep me hanging on.

The SNES conversion of Mr. Do! is pretty nice.

Yes, it is a very good conversion. The sounds of Mr. Do! really bring me back to the 80's haha
Galaxy Wars is another Universal arcade game which was ported to SFC, and also one of my guilty pleasures for primitive shmup action. Also Moon Cresta on the first Nichibutsu Arcade Collection is great for primitive shmup action and sfx.
And it is worth noting that Crazy Climber from the Nichibutsu collection is playable with two controllers for dual d-pad action.

It does have s-video though, slightly better than the model one, it only requires an extremely simple mod wiring. I even gave mine an LED.

For some of us the 16-bit wars never ended; the SNES is the enemy and no matter how much people rave about it, for me it will always be ranked with such evils as Stalin, Nixon, women drivers, Morlocks and the barrel of doom in Carnival Night Zone.

When I was young, I was an Atari/Sega kid. I had my Atari XEGS and my Genesis, and I didn't need anything else. I eventually got my Master System and the PBC, the Saturn and all that. Meanwhile, I kept shunning the NES and SNES, trying to pretend that the games one them weren't that great. However, I eventually metaphorically opened my eyes, and got over that idiocy. I got an NES first, with all three Castlevania games at a flea market (I remember thinking to myself, If they have all three Castlevanias, I'll get it. Otherwise, forget it). I started picking up other games like the Ninja Gaiden trilogy, Rushin' Attack, LifeForce, and others. Then, years later, at a K-Mart that was going out of business, I found a still-boxed SNES that came with Killer Instinct. They also had a cart-only copy of Doom, so I grabbed that as well. Before long, I had Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania: Dracula X, Demon's Crest, and I built my modest library up from there.

I still can't figure out why I kept sticking my fingers in my ears and ignoring all the games that others were enjoying. Maybe it was all the NES/SNES owners that greatly outnumbered me (I knew one person who had a Genesis, and no one else had a Master System), and the repeated trash talking that was coming from all sides if I brought up one of my Genesis games. It wouldn't surprise me, really. But, thankfully I got out of that ignorant phase, and grew the hell up.
