Hmm, one could be allowed to skip a sports title if he or she reviews the game beaten, if the person also picked a popular AAA title. The problem with that is that more than half of the reviewable games left are sports titles . Some incentive, but not a requirement, like that may help bring in reviews.

StarMist: I'll fairly review any game you or anyone else send to me .

The lack of any Euro games is shocking....

I kid. Any chance I join in?

I will defer to whatever consensus you and SpaceFlea arrive at. Especially given the rarity and specialized nature of the games in question. (Is there any emulator that supports a generic MIDI keyboard for Miracle Piano?)

You've got it, and I've marked you down for both games. All the info you need should be in the first post + SpaceFlea's spreadsheet anyway.

    That sounds fancy!

The nice thing is that with (American) football fans now on board, some of them may feel driven of their own accord to write the game up. Gentle encouragement won't hurt, of course!

Absolutely, please do! As long as the game's the same, or virtually identical, PAL copies are fair game. I'm actually playing a PAL copy of Davis Cup Tennis, since that's what I own and I know the ROM is identical in both regions.

The Miracle played differently for me than it did in those videos. Perhaps I had it setup incorrectly. Who knows. Regardless, even if it does drive your progression through the lessons and mark misses with an "X" (neither of which it did for me), it doesn't matter.

Though, watching that did remind me of a computer game I used to play called Rosetta Stone. It progresses you along on the exact same basis. In each lesson: You're given dialog; You repeat said dialog; And your passing or failing determines if you progress to the next lesson until the end, where you're tested. I've been meaning to play it again. I dearly wish to beat all three Japanese levels.

The problem with your argument is your sole claim that it's a game "because it has a pass condition," or rather that it can be "beaten." But that can in no way be the whole factor of determination - be it software or otherwise. Where would you draw the line in application of that decree? Take school for instance. It has a pass condition, but no one refers to it as a game outside of jest. And war has winners and losers, but you're sure to stand a swift sack of sorrows if you call it a game.

And if you mean only to apply that directive to your digital encounters, would you consider any online test taken to be a game, or the installation of software? And any time you have to pass verification by entering valid credentials, is that a game too? Rosetta Stone?

I'm done with this. I'm not going to argue it anymore. I honestly don't give a shit if we do or don't count The Miracle (or Joey) within the terms of this task. But it's absolutely NOT a game.

    NOTICE TO EVERYONE:

THE LIST OF CLAIMS HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE NEW THREAD, but please don't post there yet.

In addition, the following claims from the old thread haven't been added to the new one (or the spreadsheet):

Anonymouse: Truxton and Fire Shark - pick one, it's not fair to take both.

Nostalgic Machine: SFII:CE claim was added, but also declared "interest" in Eternal Champions and Panic on Funkotron plus a TBA sports game or two; let us know what sports game you'll be doing and we'll add the Funkotron claim to the new thread, but hold off on EC since two fighting games at once is too much.

"Rimmer:" only Sega-16 members allowed, sorry, but if you join you can claim Sub-Terrania.

TmEE: We're not counting Sonic 3 & Knuckles officially, but you're listed as claiming Sonic & Knuckles (without the lock-on). Let us know if you do want that, or if you want Sonic 3 on its own, or neither one.

He's technically allowed to take advantage of the save feature in the Sonic 3 cart, but only claim the second half (The S&Knuckles game) as beaten; based on our previous discussion. The reason being that Sonic 3 has a complete final boss that can only be played with the Sonic 3 cart alone (which is the only way to truly complete Sonic 3).

You've got the idea! Now offer to do a sports game too, and you'll make us happy indeed. (You can also pick a second, additional non-sports game, as long as it's not a popular title like Sonic.)

See this post for a FAQ about the project, and also a list of games that are available.

    OK, I think I understand.

Just seen Rugby World Cup 95 made it to the US as well, I'll take that to add to my 2. I've never played it yet but will see how it goes (again I've the PAL version but can't see there be any differences)

Added! GoodGen lists it as (UE), meaning that the ROM is identical in both regions, so you're good to go.

So, what other problem games do we see on the horizon? Other than Outback Joey and Miracle Piano -- which, outside of the discussion earlier, are a problem just because almost no one has them -- there are a few that come to mind:

Populous - what the hell should the win condition for this game be?
Blockout - someone raised this as a potential issue
Ishido - theoretically, it looks like if you get 11 "Four Ways" you've basically maximized what can be done in this game, but that looks almost impossible. Should this even be included?
Combat Cars - has anyone actually beaten this game? I've heard that it becomes insanely cheap and difficult.
Menacer 6-game cartridge - what's the win condition here?
Zoop - does this go on forever

Any others? There's no rush, it's not like we have to lock everything in by 1/1/2013, but...

You have a good point with these, like Art Alive, Wacky Worlds Creativity Studio, Math Blaster, Etc., these I guess we can concentrate on on a case by case basis.

As for the Menacer 6-Game cart, it is definitely beatable, as they are 6 games in one (and it doesn't really follow the anthology scenario you mentioned with other compilation carts, as these were the only releases these saw outside later plug n plays). Since no one has claimed it, even though I already have mine own set to beat, I'd like to claim it also (seeing how I at least beat it half way, and am pretty familiar with it). Unless anyone else objects to it, of course.

P.S.> I'm so excited about this project GoldenB. Thanks again for bringing this up for all of us. It's going to be a great year for sega-16.

Fairly popular, but if you want it you can take it. Just know that you have to beat the game twice, once with Grant and once with the raptor. Also, it'd be great if you'd be willing to take on a sports game as well.

Added! Since the game requires special hardware, and you have it, it's certainly not a problem.

You're very welcome! I think it'll be a lot of fun, and it'll be exciting to see if we can pull it off, especially if it comes down to the wire. BTW NintendoAge have eight left, with nine days to go -- it'll be tight!

I'll take a few, if they haven't been claimed:

    Bulls vs. Lakers
    Jerry Glanville's Pigskin Footbrawl
    Joe Montana II SportsTalk Football
    John Madden Football
    Justice League Task Force
    Madden NFL 97
    Virtua Racing
