He is using real hardware AFAIK (however, the YT compression always degrades the sound). You can watch all his videos, there's no emulation (even for the SFC version of SFZ2 he uses a real console).
But on a TV it might sound not THAT different from the PS1. You'll only notice the gap if you use a good stereo with the speakers a bit distant from each other. Or if you're using headphones.
And you can probably reduce the gap using a proper equalizer (since the high frequencies are more pronounced on the PS1) and some sort of stereo expander (many old Pro-Logic decoders alreay had settings for stereo separation)...
I just want to say that I don't think the Saturn version sounds like shit or something, in fact, it sounds like the arcade. Is the PS1 version that uses an enhanced soundtrack.
Yeah, Sega Rally sounds really great on the Saturn.

What I was getting at though is that the Arcade, PS1, and Dreamcast versions all have the Q Sound boot screen before the rolling Demo starts:
The Saturn version doesn't have that screen at all:
None of the CPS2 ports on the Saturn have that screen. So my thought was that possibly the Saturn ports don't use Q-Sound. The only time I've ever seen a screen appear in a Saturn version was in the Game Over sequence of Alpha 3.
I don't think so, the Saturn games still have the logo on the cover.
Actually, PS1 version is the oddball.
If you pay attention to the QSound logo screen, the Dreamcast version sounds exactly like the arcade, while the PS1 sounds different, much better. Pick a headphone around you and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Dreamcast version is using the same soundtrack of the Saturn, that is the arcade board sound. The only difference is the sfx quality, that are far superior on the Dreamcast compared to the other versions.
You can also compare these segments (please, use a headphone):

Still, it seems odd that they don't have the QSound boot screen when all the other ports do.
I agree that Marvel Super Heroes does not sound like it is using the Q Sound technology, but Street Alpha 2 definitely sounds like it does.
The following Capcom fighters that I own do show Q Sound on the back of the case:
X-Men vs. Street Fighter
Cyberbots
Vampire Savior
Street Fighter Collection
Marvel Super Heroes

That could simply be a reference to the Arcade version or it could mean that the samples were ripped from the Arcade which used Q-Sound. It doesn't necessarily mean that the Saturn is actually using Q-Sound in game. It just strikes me as strange that all other ports have that boot screen yet none of the Saturn versions have it. It had to have been a conscious decision to remove it. If it wasn't it wouldn't be missing in all of them and only on the Saturn. So my best guess is that there is something with the Saturn ports that doesn't truly qualify as Q-Sound
I just find it odd that the screens are missing on the Saturn versions yet they are present in all other versions. That's all.
I'm aware Q-Sound doesn't work that way, however I don't think we should be going solely off whether or not there is a QSound logo on the box. Game boxes have been misleading countless times. All I am saying is that the lack of the Q-Sound boot screen in all the CPS-2 ports and the fact that the Saturn ports tend to have lower audio quality makes me want to lean on the side of the Saturn ports not using Q-Sound.
If you include that screen in all other home ports why would you go out of your way to not include it in any of the Saturn ports?
Plenty of games that use Q Sound don't have a boot screen.
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
I'm aware of that, however all the Capcom CPS2 games do have a boot screen in every other home port except the Saturn ports (and the SNES ports obviously). It's there in the Arcade version, it's there in every PS1 port, and it's there in every Dreamcast and PS2 port. So why is it missing in every single Saturn port? There must be a specific reason for not including it when they chose to include it in the other home ports.
Are there any good 3d platformers on Saturn?
