It seems like if it's new enough to not have the COM port on top, then it's probably a version that's fixed to play it.

Don't quote me on that, though. All I know for sure is that I bought a new PAR about a year ago and it works fine with VS.

Finished Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story 1, great game. It aged suprisingly well because of the fluid framerate and simple control layout. Far better than any Armored Core on the PS1, which have sh*tty framerates and ungodly clunky controls. Side Story 1 is quite a short game, but i'm not bothered since i do have Side Story 2 & 3 to sink into.

Also sinked about 30 minutes in Astra SuperStars. Such a fucking awesome game. The combo system is fluid and it's ridiculously easy to perform long combos that are a satisfying spectacle to your eyes.

I just played a little of Virtua Fighter, first time I've played it. Body parts here and there kept disappearing (Akira's left leg in one stage and part of Jackie's head in another as an example); I was running the PAL copy at 60hz, so it could of been that, but I remember hearing there was something...wrong with the first VR game on SAT, was this it?

The original Saturn port suffered from lots of flickering polygons.

Ah, thank you. I thought my system was glitching on me at first. How the hell did the game get released in that state, I'm not one to complain about graphics, but it's so noticeable?

The original port was rushed for the 1994 JP release. Virtua Fighter Remix was released later as a sort of apology:

That is MUCH better. Game seems to be rare in the UK, two sellers want £99+ for it, yet the Japanese version is going for around £5. I know what one I'm getting!

I loved having the Saturn over the psone!
I was lucky too, and got guardian legends with the games that came with it!
Along with Myst, warcraft2, Daytona usa, dark savior, and eventually bought shining wisdom.
I think I liked the obvious one best, then warcraft2, then shining wisdom (which I thought was a waste of money).Myst was ok too.(even though I never got far at all) And as for "ahem" Im not going to even give "it"
the time.(dark savior was ok too).Friggin singing the place in florida where you race was very annoying.
The All Time Best Sega commercial was the kid on the bench hitting himself with a dead squirrel while playing a Gameboy to get "colors".....Then the said dead mammal screams SEGA!

And it's interesting to note that that was released before Virtua Fighter on the 32x. (and could have been am official Western Saturn Launch title if not for the early release)
6 days older than SEGA Genesis

cant imagine it being worth a 100 quid but it does have a few unusual things
the packaging is a cardboard in lay with a normal double disc jewel case ( something i feel sega should have done with the staurn packaging in europe and the usa instead of the crap we got i cant even close my damn copy of nightwarriors ! )
and a bonus disc with cgi portraits culled from the 12 virtua fighter gci discs

its a good game though much better then first rushed lego port of the game
it looks much better and is faster too

I've enjoyed my Saturn so much since I got it. I've been having more fun with it now than I ever had with my PSX.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

Thanks for the info. It's still not worth £100 for that, tho. I'm just gonna get the Japanese version, not interested in extras, just the game.

The US release is pretty cheap too, though if you want the Tall Box release expect to pay more.

P&P from the US is pretty expensive for some reason of late, never used to be, but it is now. I don't like Western Saturn boxes, hate the bleeding things, especially the wafer-thin cardboard ones. The Japanese did right by just using standard jewel cases.
