Anyone else been playing Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers on 3DS? It was originally a Saturn game and now it's finally in English. It's a pretty awesome dungeon crawler with '90s cyberpunk atmosphere and thankfully not being overly long like games in its series.

This is the first 3DS game I'm actually interested in playing. Hopefully it's faithful to the Saturn version.

An English patch for the Saturn version could just emerge from nowhere, oh well [/dream]

3DS Shinobi is surprisingly good. Fans of 16-bit action games should check it out.

Whoever said Sonic Jam PAL doesn't run well in 60hz doesn't know what they're chatting about. Only the main menu/title screen is 50hz optimizied, which results in the bottom half of the screen being chopped off. Sonic World, the Mega Drive games themselves and the other menus all play and look fine (and full screen!) at 60hz.

I'm looking to buy myself some more japanese saturn games. Can someone tell me which Samurai Showdown and Real Bout games don't work with a PAR? And is the original Panzer Dragoon called something else in Japan? Because I can't find it on Amazon. The other two games are there, but not the first one. Are the ports of SFA1 and 2 and Vampire Hunter missing animation frames? It sure as hell doesn't look like it.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

SS3 and Real Bout work on my PAR fine.
Panzer is same in japan http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panzer-Drago...item257d9fa8b1

I'm pretty sure they are missing frames of animation on both of them. But they are great ports though.

Real Bout Special is fine on an AR; vanilla Real Bout has garbled graphics at times.

Holy shit is the US/European version of Panzer Dragoon Saga expensive! Yet (again) the Japanese version is going for cheap, I'll never understand that. Can you play the game okay in Japanese, what I mean is, is it text-heavy?

EDIT: I just checked the wiki page on it. Sad the game had such a short Western run. I think it might be...problematic to play in Japanese, but I'm going to get it for that region regardless. Hopefuly I can play the game with a guide from GameFAQS.

Very text-heavy. It's comparable to other RPGs at the very least. I can't even imagine trying to play that game in a different language. That's probably why you see tons of people bitching about the price of PDS but almost no one rejoicing about how cheap the Japanese version is.

I like Panzer Dragoon Saga/Azel as a game, but the story as it was written is nothing special and the game is straight forward enough that you should only get stuck in the Japanese version in spots where you'd get stuck in an English version any way.

Ah, that's a shame. I think I'll take the plunge anyway and try to play the game in Japanese (with guide), see how it goes. If that does work out, I'll pony up the cash and get the US or UK one, whatever's going cheaper (I'm a cheapsake and proud ). Thank you.

So you're saying I could get away with the Japanese version? Awesome, thanks!
