The 890k number is as of December 29th. That's not 2 months. That's about 5 weeks. So selling that much in the US alone is pretty darn good. Yeah it's not on the same level as the original Wii but lets face reality here. Nothing else ever was on that level and most likely nothing ever will be on that level again for a good long while.

Comparing to other launches like the PS3 and 360 we see that the Wii U is on par or selling a bit better. The PS3 in roughly the same amount of time pushed about 1.6 Million systems world wide. The Wii U as of now has sold about 1.5-1.6 million between Japan and the US alone. And the 360 by comparison sold about 1.5 Million systems world wide in that same amount of time. The Wii U is not disappointing in sales or lackluster, it's selling on par with the norm for new consoles. Take the Wii's success out of your head and compare it to more realistic launches. The Wii's Launch wasn't the norm, it was an unexpected phenomenon.

And there was a supply issue. Yeah the Standard SKU was available, but the Deluxe one was selling out. People wanted the Deluxe one, not the Standard one. It's similar to the PS3 launch in that sense. The 20GB model was easily available but the 60GB one was hard to find. Yeah you could get a Wii U this holiday season, but if you wanted the Deluxe one it was harder to find.

You have forgotten that BOTH the 360 and PS3(which was budget busted like 3DO) had LIMITED shipping ports during their first few months so did PS2 and Wii. Also December 29? That's Christmas. The December NPD henceforth the full Holiday season.

You sound like a Nintendo fanboy. Stop spinning and making excuses for the console's poor marketing.

Also, last I heard, Euro sales are ABYSMAL.

I played this game, answering Mr. Sega's posts, best bet is for everybody to put him on there ignore list, remove the oxygen and the posters willingness to troll and frequent the board suffocates.

I'm probably bumping an old thread here, but I just wanted to post a slight counter to your rant against the Wii-U by saying that I bought the Deluxe Set less than a week ago, and my expectations have been exceeded substantially. Nintendo Land is insanely fun, and the system itself hit me so hard (in a good way) that I couldn't sleep the first few nights I got it because I couldn't get my mind off of how fun it was.

And I have a lot of game systems, stretching from the Atari 2600 up, so....that says something. :P

Besides, any idiot knows that the true success of a system is not riding on its launch blowing every other launch out of the water, nor does it matter how many "good" launch titles are available right now. As far as I'm concerned, it's still a newborn. And it's got me hooked, so chances are others enjoy it as much as I do, too...you've gotta give a baby some time to walk before you can expect it to run a race, man!

Im thinking of selling some of my less used retro stuff or my sealed copy of Pier Solar so i have enough to get Wii U, but im torn between it and the Playstation Vita. I mean you can already get one new on ebay for less than £200. That leads me to think it had a pretty mediocre launch but I don't care, I want a new shiny thing!

Guys, MrSega is actually a decent guy and nice to talk to. Sure you might not agree with many of his posts, but at least he isn't a asshole hater grave-humper like Eddiespruce was for example.
