while that it may be true that the wii U currently doesnt have any strong games lined up for it
the 3ds was turned around with a price cut and some strong first party titles mario kart 7 was hyped up to the hilt

all the wii u needs is a price cut
a hell of a lot more advertising to tget the word out that its not an UPGRADE but a whole new console
and a couple of first party games to hog the lime light mario kart U and smash bros U shoudl do the trick
or luigi mansion 2 even if its a 3ds port the wii u can use all the games it can

Over on this side of the world the Wii U has so far been the worst (bar none) major gaming console in terms of sales.
The things just sit on the shelves gathering air conditioned dust.
So much so that a major chain store here will be reducing the Premium bundles to the equivalent of under $100, until stocks last. I have it on good authority that this will happen by the middle of next week. At that price point the Wii U suddenly becomes quite enticing!
Hopefully I can be quick on the draw and snag me a few of those. I can definitely see that tag of "reseller" in my future.

He obviously meant long-time Nintendo loyalists, be it actual "hardcore" fans, or just casual users who are content with the brand name. (honestly, my family would fall pretty decently within the latter, but there's no way we're buying it until mid-generation at the very least, and only then if it merits it . . . which is almost always how it goes, Wii being the biggest exception which we got within the first year and a half and only then because we got the upgraded Twilight Princess pre-order --which, in hindsight was a mistake given the GC version is better SSBB recouped that disappointment at least)

Anyway, the point would be that non-loyalists not tied to a specific brand (who may or may not have jumps onto the Wii's broad mass-market appeal as a cheap and/or casual and/or kiddie/famil-friendly system) would potentially still make up a huge target market segment for Nintendo, but marketing would be critical. (along with games to actually market . . . )

Disregarding that obvious point, and following through with the logic of your argument... tell us how Sega would be any different or better off, with their smaller fan base.
I'll agree here, along with all the other points I've argued over Sega's potential to re-enter the hardware arena. (I really don't think it's a good time for them to do it with all the new platforms arriving all over the place)

I don't know about you but I always love when parts of a street block do not appear until you are next to them or the buildings in an entire block are dark and only light up until you are right on top of them.

The game plays quite well but it certainly is not void of hangups and such.

dude. the game is from 2008. back then they couldn;t push it any harder.

the gamecube indeed is far better than the n64. gamecube is a great system but the n64 in comparison is very overrated and unbalanced. not a good system. only back in the day because the wrestlinggames and shooters that are now obsolete

a romanced(is that even a word?) image or not sega to me where not in it for the money. they were in it to revolutionize. see how more money then they made was always invested in r&d, new arcade technology and new game genre's and idea's, shenmue hello? something nintendo would've never allowed budget wise. sega always came out with the most revolutionary and interesting hardware. yes it cost them. but I don't care. nintendo sold out to their fans. they now make "new" zelda and other nintendo games that look the same still as on gamecube.

I propose that every time MrSega mentions Orbi he should get a 1 week temporary ban.

Actually it is from 2009 but that's neither here nor there. The game is superb but it has it's share of hiccups. Yesterday I was playing TLAD while attempting to do some of the non-story elements such as meeting random characters as well as doing jobs for Stubbs. Had me wondering if I was in a Bizarro version of Liberty City.

ok, but what does that have to do with the point of discussion? they were just expansions where they couldn't really overhaul what was gta4

You are the one who brought up the year of GTAIV.

This discussion had turned in the direction of GTA V and whether or not it would be on the Wii U. My contention was since the 360 had issues (at times) running IV, how would a system minimally more powerful than the 360 handle V which looks to have even more resource dependency.

yes and 4 was released in 2008, back when no system was pulled to it's maximum yet, which was my point and then another claimed it was released in 2009

Because the Wii u has more ram. The Only reason the PS3 and 360 had any issues with it was due to ram restrictions, Not lack of power.

And when you installed the game disk to the 360s HDD most of the loading issues went away, as in not being able to load the high detail textures from the disk fast enough vs HDD when driving too fast, when less ram is available you have to stream more data on the fly to make up for the lack of ram. Optical disks are much slower then a HDD.

Virtual ram/HDD cache is no substitute for actual ram, yes it helps when you need more ram in a pinch, but it can cause slowdowns.
