What exactly are kids games? This is a list of all current and upcoming 3DS games published or developed by Nintendo.Nintendo's portfolio is very diverse, albeit conservative. The Vitas problem is having enough good software to merit the price of the system, it might change, but at the moment it's not worth it.The 3DS is also getting a price drop come December, so Sony better do something quick.

^That is actually a rather impressive list, and I was unaware of the price drop. Sony's effed if they don't smarten up.

They don't know if it's permanent or not though.Hoping it is, I want to buy one, and wouldn't mind the cheaper price.

The biggest thing is that Gran Turismo and Grand Theft Auto both take quite a bit of time and $$$ to develop, so I dunno if it would be worth taking the risk. Plus the premise of "console quality games on the go" is a nice sounding premise however most people aren't going to want lengthy games on the portable - not talking about Sega-16 but most gamers in general outside of the internet. Plus price drops and droping fucking stupid propitiatory formats for memory cards would help too.

I think the recent reviews of Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is indicative of the Vita's overall problem: developers are willing to put big name series on the handheld, but are in no way investing the amount of time required to make those games successful.

A console quality COD on a handheld? Licence to print money. An Uncharted sequel?! Yes please. But neither entry lived up to its franchise legacy, because there's no incentive for developers to put in the proper time yet. It's sad, because if those games were must-buys, the user base would increase, and as a result, so would quality games being made. At least Nintendo made an effort to increase that base by lowering the cost of the console, Sony really needs to do the same.

And as someone mentioned before, they need to get rid of the ridiculous memory pricing as well. Propriety memory is an ancient money-grab practice, and it only angers customers.

It's rather smart marketing, as they've always been stigmatized as a "kids company", so it's almost like their middle finger to the market place.
A kid's game is not necessarily a throw-away game and visa versa. Nintendo has been releasing quality games for the 3DS which appeal to the masses. You aren't seeing this with the Vita.

Discussing the Vita is becoming a broken record already because every game being released will save the system and get people to drop good coin on it but we never see the results. Resistance was suppose to save it. AC3 was suppose to save it. COD:BO is (was) another savior. It's getting to the point where every excuse in the book is being thrown at the Vita with the hopes of something sticking. The bottom line is the games aren't there.

I think the worst part is that they more or less went through the same thing with the PSP.It took way too long for good games to populate the system.

The only good thing Sony has done to promote the Vita lately is the free (more like extended rental) stuff on PS+. I don't own a Vita yet but I have games like Gravity Rush, Wiepout, and Uncharted ready to go because of PS+ on PS3. Still, it's not something mainstreamers are necessarily aware of. A system price drop + killer apps are what's needed to make it sell.

    Is it? Is it??

I think the general apathy towards the PSP compared to that towards the DS had at least partially to do with Sony's gross overestimation of how much gamers want "console quality" games on a handheld. Playing God of War and Grand Theft Auto on the go was neat, but at the same time it was akin to bragging about second-basing a twenty five year old: all you're doing is drawing attention to the fact that you didnt get laid.

Near-console-quality is the best handheld games can hope for, and most of today's gamers would rather skip the foreplay.

I think the Vita is already saved - it's not going anywhere especially after this holiday season when the installed base will be in the millions.
I pretty much agree word for word with this post, I'm very happy with my Vita and am looking forward to quite a few of the future titles, but man they really need to cut the prices of those memory cards. By a lot.

I spend almost three hours on public transit a day. I would go batshit insane if I didn't have anything to do on the bus/metro other than looking outside and other people.

Unless the crowds were all pretty girls. Then I'd be fine.

I don't want to play any games on handheld, but speaking generally. people like to play short quick "rush" type of games. and graphics matter not or almost not.
