StarCraft, Half Life, Shogo, Thief and a few others really bring me back to 1998, still one of the most amazing years in PC gaming.

Well to be honest, almost any Pc-Engine game takes me back to those simpler times.......it's that magical....

Watch your back, shoot straight, and never cut a deal with the dragon. (from Shadowrun)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: This is how I started, console-wise. So I will always be taken back to day 1 with this one.
Disney's Aladdin (Genesis): My favorite platformer since its hayday, what do you expect?
Phantasy Star II and III: The music, the style, everything! I may not have been able to beat these back in the day, but I spent hours playing them.
Mortal Kombat II: My most played and favorite fighting game.
Tetris on an original Gameboy: Need I say more?
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening: I couldn't beat it back in the day, but I sure know I tried.
Final Fantasy Adventure: Also great. And I can't wait to get these last two to finally beat them once and for all.
Popeye by Nintendo on an Atari arcade cab: My first played arcade game, ever!
Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man: I can't remember which one it was, but it was my first played computer game in 1990.
...virtually anything retro-gaming related will instantly take me back (whether I played it back then or not. They become instant classics in my memory the minute I beat them. The good times will continue rolling).
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (SNES): We (and by we, I mean all my childhood friends and I, and probably lots of YOU on here) grew up playing this game over and over and over and over. I remember playing at my buddies house (back when I owned only a Genesis) and being completely blown away by the graphical/audio display of this game. I was beyond disappointed when I rented Hyperstone Heist; similar, but just not the same. To this day, Turtles in Time and SoR2 are my two most played beat 'em ups.
This period of gaming is what I like to refer to as the "Golden Era"; 1992 just seemed to unleash a massive wave of pure excellence in both arcades and home consoles. Think about it; how many legendary games came out in the later half of '92 alone? Turtles in Time, Mortal Kombat, Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Contra III: The Alien Wars, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past (the last two were early '92, but still!). We are at the 20th anniversary of some of our most favorite games!

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."
Might as well list a few of my own.
Sonic 2
Starcraft
Disciples Sacred Lands
Wolfenstein 3D(Floppy version)
Street fighter II championship edition
The Ooze
Large part of me really enjoyed the feel of playing such games on consoles back then, with the occasional PC game on the side. Interesting how time changes interests like that.
I spent way too much time on Megamania on the 2600: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLXIk8n45AE
And Demon Attack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjhCh8qwFdw
When I was 11 / 12 in 1992 I was the biggest street fighter 2 arcade-a-holic. As soon as the game came out on snes I was playing that nonstop. Really street fighter 2 is the game that revived the arcade industry. It's funny that I can't think of any console that has an arcade perfect port of just street fighter 2 champion edition.
Whoa another canadian. And now I'm curious how old you are since you know such retro classics.
37 and a half! A half! Originally from New Brunswick but been living in Montreal since 2000.
For some reason I got an Atari 2600 when I was 10 or 12 or something. Don't remember exactly how, just had a feeling that it had been thrown away and I somehow inherited it.
I must've had a half of a dozen games, but nothing outstanding. Didn't have any classics like Pac-Man or Asteroids.
I remember buying Millipede new at the Zellers. It was definitely after the crash of 83-84. If I bought it then it must've been on a clearance sale or something.
Then at some point I threw it away. And of course now I kick myself for doing that.
I'm not surprised. We're almost overrepresented on this board.Originally Posted by Drakon
