I think this game should be possible on 32x, and on dreamcast of course. Maybe someday someone will transfer it to this console.

Ah, I didn't think of the fact that Beyond Oasis might've been the one doing the borrowing. By the way, does anyone else agree that one of the death yells (again, one that also appeared in BO) sounds a lot like Pee-Wee Herman?

There's a Dreamcast port on planning.

I don't think they would carry it over the 32x or Mega CD however. I guess there would be some technical issues like colour enhancements, transparencies and some effects despite the general Mega Drive feeling of the game.

Ya know, this (hopefully) and BOR are the two things that keep my Dreamcast alive.

Has the game's difficulty been tweaked to make it any less difficult? With a keyboard; it is impossible.

The redesign of stages is noticeably and looks great. The branching paths is also a good thing in terms of replayability.

I love the extras. The game is full of them, like the additional playing modes, artworks (excellent job here), customization feature, or theathre mode.

And the music. This is one of the best features. Those remixes are very good, specially some like the robot factory stage, the boss music, or the final boss tune (I LOVE this one). There also some new tunes which are pretty good, like the one in the beginning of the Stage 2. Too bad these new tunes are few.

The mayor complain I have, is the absence of using the superior SOR3 playability style. I mean, except the running feature, the rest is SOR2-style.

It lacks the 6-button disposition of SOR3, so you have to use the hold B and press B+C ways to perform the techniques you can do by simply pressing Y and Z.

The upgrade system of SOR3 is also no more. Nor even perfoming those techniques with the X button. It has the consequence of lacking cool attacks like the SOR3 rotating and uppercut of Axel.

Although the running feature has been enhanced with the possibility of running into vertical directions while going straight, you can't perfom specific running attacks with the weapons. The character simply does its typical -> -> B attack (like the Axel's "grand upper") no matter what weapon you have.

Anyway, my personal congrats to the Bombergames team. I have been following their progress about 3 years now, and it was worthy enough. It is a great game that successfully recaptures the essence of the series and becomes into what a classic SOR game truly is.

By the way, I have made a SORR thread on the SEGA of America's boards, but it seems the people over there have shown little interest on it. Shame.

You know, the only characters that can't do the weapon attack are Axel, Adam and Max. Axel can't cuz the developers used his SOR2 sprites instead of his BK3 ones (which I don't understand why) and they would have to edit his sprites to give him one (like how they did with his run). Max came from SOR2 so he don't have one. Adam is a complete edit so he doesn't have one either but Skate, Blaze and Zan have some. Also if you hit B and C (or attack and jump in this case) at the same time you can do a back attack without having to hold B first. As far as the Y attack is concerned, I can't think of any reason why I would need to use it. I could just knock down opponets with a jump attack. Besides, you only have to hold B for 2 seconds.

Heh, I was reading a thread they have at the Bombergames forum about the article, and they rip it a new one because I "obviously didn't play the game."

That's funny, because the article isn't even a review. It was written about a week before it went up, in anticipation of the game's release, using information and pictures from their site and forums, as well as the Play magazine article they have about the game.

Remake's been patched three times since release, and many of the things mentioned aren't even in there, yet there's absolutely no mention of this anywhere that isn't 80 pages deep in several forum threads over there. I went through 90+ pages of two different threads on their site when writing the article, and everything pointed to my information being accurate at the time.

That's what I get for trying to pimp a homebrew. Bleh.

As I've said before, they should have waited to release it. That way they wouldn't have what they feel are "inaccurate" articles out there and people like me commenting on how easy the game is and how unimpressed I was only to have others come and say "Hey did you try version beta 6?" and I say "No I only have version beta 3" and then get a response "Well beta 7 is available download that biotch!"

Streets of Rage Remake is a prime example of how to release something the wrong way. Just because it is a PC game doesn't mean it HAS to be incomplete upon release.

Finished the game this weekend (using the keyboard, dunno why you're having trouble Henry) but I found the end bosses to be extremely easy. I was on the Normal level though. Guess I'll be taking it to the next level. muahaha :P

I agree with that actually. Still a great game though.

I can't get the directional pad to work, and I refuse to play Streets with a keyboard.

Any hints on how to fix? When I try to map the buttons, it skips the directional set and the first button I'm allowed to program is the attack button. In the readme it says something about only being able to use either a left joystick or the d-pad, and that I might have to disable one to use the other... but I'm using a dualshock through a usb adapter, so I don't exactly have like separate setup options for my controller... or do I? Anyone help?

For some reason, the good people over at the Bombergames forums don't understand that this feature was NOT a review. They say I "should have played the game first" but then don't follow their own advice when they criticize the article. Had they read anything on the site, they'd know that all our reviews have a score and are clearly labeled as reviews.

Later in the thread they themselves agree that a release date was set and not met, and that I should basically have trudged through their entire forum to keep up to date with what was going on with the game. It's not like that information should have been... I don't know...on the game's website, maybe?

I guess using their own forums and the interview they had with Play! Magazine wasn't enough. I should read every thread in their forum if I want the full scoop.

What's ironic is that the first page of the thread linked on the SORR website has this post by the guy running things:

With the game almost completed, I can say SorR will be launched on 31 DECEMBER 2006 (official and definitive release date)
There's even a whole other thread specifically about the Dec. 31 release.

Even with that, the same chap who said this about my article:

Looks like they got complaints (scroll the page down until you reach the "Update (1/18/07)" part), so now they are complaining themselves back for the patches released too quickly after the release (what's a release date for them, after all ? ), the lack of info on our website, the website itself not working and the forums being messy (in summary)... But the truth is...

Yeah, they should have played the game first and actually tested it before making a preview, "selling" it to us as a review, instead of complaining about our stuff. If it was not in order to post a SORR review as quick as possible before anyone else does, I don't know what it was for...
...said this on the very next page:

And you guys are right : a good anouncement on the main website or in good position in these forums, stating that the game release is delayed in order to fix important bugs, or that the release is not delayed but that the game released is still far from finished and still has many bugs (I'm talking about v4.00), would have helped a lot avoiding all those useless posts I am talking about above.

I guess that, being better informed, I think people would have been much more comprehensive.
Here is the Play Magazine interview I used as one of my sources:

Sigh. I sincerely don't know where they got that this was review. It doesn't have a score, and it doesn't even read like a review. No ill will was meant in writing this piece, and the entire point of this series is to promote the homebrew community, and this is the reaction it gets? That's what I get for supporting trying to pimp their release, I guess.

Attached is the Play Magazine interview I used as a source.
