Default What if someone made a new game like X-Men?

I had this thought a couple days ago reading a web-comic that showed someone getting an RROD. Actually, this one:
    http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=320

And I got to thinking... if someone made a game for a current console that worked like X-Men on the Genesis, would gamers be able to handle it? Consoles were pretty sturdy back in those days, they didn't really crash and weren't known for crashing. What if a game had simulated a RROD or Orange Light thing on PS3 or some other type of "crash" like screen that happened in X-Men for the Genesis. People would probably flip right?

I mean, even when I was a kid I never beat X-Men because I thought the game was bad. We've got the internet now so it MIGHT not be so bad... what do you think?

If all the things that made the first X-Men games so terrible were fixed, then they wouldn't be such bad games .

Eternal Darkness for Gamecube did have some similar stuff, like a fake corrupted save file message.

Metal Gear Solid changed the channel on you, and Metal Gear Solid 2 gave you fake game overs in the middle of the game.

Why? I think it's fine on Gamecube.

If they were to re-release it today it would need to play more like Zelda 64 and less like the original Resident Evil PS1 games.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Eternal Darkness doesn't have prerendered backgrounds, and it has analog control.

Eternal Darkness is probably one of the most over-looked GC titles ever. Total sleeper hit.

    I don't think it's really overlooked.

Beyond hardcore gaming communities such as this, I don't think anyone I've asked even recognizes the title. I got ED about three years after the GameCube launch, and wasn't disappointed.

Metal Gear Solid 3 kills you during a boss fight, only to have to select continue to just carry on playing the game, right?

Why would Eternal Darkness need to play like Zelda?
It's a horror game, I liked the way it played, mind you I sort of thought the last level was sort of awful.

One thing I really liked though, was the fact that there wasn't any tank controls like the Resident Evil games. Those were terrible who the hell thought that was a good idea?
