Again, more evidence that it's going to be an amusement park similar to what they put in Dubai and the logo trademark you enjoy posting about is simply for the Parks merchandise.

Not a new console, not a new brand to replace Sega Corporation. Just some kind of attraction.

Finding capital outside of gaming does not mean Sega should become the corporate equal of the Borg.

Sammy and the lot have an Animation Studio. Set a team to work on cable content, or youtube mini series supplanted by some ads.
Attach rewards for purchases in areas of influence. Get X plushie/item and receive a discount of x at Segaworld/segalocation
Add a Music section to the E-Store of Sega websites to allow the purchase of soundtracks or individual songs, in addition to selling them on Itunes and other Music platforms.
    Bundle products together.
Offer rewards for repeat customers of games or visitors to amusement centers or for Ecosystem purchases(Spend X in PSO2 and get Y)

All of these ideas don't require radical expansion, can be executed rather simply compared to other , doesn't change the core of Sega's business methods or presence and identity and offer very little risk compared to potential reward.

Wasn't the ownership of real estate properties by Capcom, what almost brought the company to its knees?

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

    Yes that is indeed correct.
Though that was about 10 years ago, unless they ran into some trouble after that. I do remember hearing about them running in the red around 02 related to real estate holdings.

SEGASammy owns TMS Entertainment, which is among the biggest anime studio in Japan that generates quite a bit of revenue for SEGA. SEGA's Amusement Park Joyopolis which has been around well before the merger, has been doing very well in the past couple of years.

SEGA also opened an Amusment Park in Dubai(a tourist spot in Arabia) called "Sega Republic" in 2009. It has so far been very successful.

Hotel Franchising would mean SEGA seeking franchise chain brands with Worldwide Hotel brands like Marriott International, Hilton Honors, IHG,Starwood Hotels. An investment LLC, would be neccessary in building, and operating facilities for these mainstream global brands.
SEGA is the Messiah of Console Gaming.

In July 2013, Exactly 164 months after Dreamcast launched, something BIG will happen at SEGA. Which is "ORBI" the world.

All the NAYSAYERS will be silenced forever when Orbi get's its "Notice of Allowance".

Which is most likely what Orbi will be, if it materializes into anything.

If they were to open a new one, why wouldn't they just call it sega republic as well? Just say it's a second location. Unless this is something completely different, why make another trademark?

Hell, I could see partnering with hotels. All the various Orbis patents would actually make sense for a selection of SEGA provided products for the Hotel lobby and room.
Various gambling style (bingo, pachinko, etc) machines with touch screens, which Sega has plenty of experience with, as well as any more arcade style games... and potentially even in room entertainment options (touch screen tv/remotes).

All of that could be extrapolated from that massive patent vomit and make 100000000% more sense than a new dedicated gaming device.

It may be in an area where a Name like Sega Republic might not go over very well. Or they may be changing the name of the one in Dubai. They've had amusement park like centers before that were all named differently.

The brand is called "Orbi". I cannot figure out what "Orbis" has to do with SEGA's multibrand trademark.

Also, we haven't even stratched the surface of Orbi. The description is FIVE pages long and has 14 different International Classes & 500 different brand descriptions.

And in case your wandering, yes there are several descriptions in Orbi that can also be found in SegaSammy's brand mark including "Panchiko Machines, & Panchinko Operations".

All I'm saying, is nobody files a trademark, this elaborate, this discrete, this conclusive. If SEGA was only planning a theme park, wouldn't it have a smaller description?

Also, the SegaSammy mark only has three paragraphs and 4 ICs. Orbi has 14.

And Drakon, your accusation is baseless. I'm going by what the trademark specifically states. Also I happen to WORK in the Hotel/Resorts business myself. I'm not pompous at all.

Yes, and the one for just the theme park is smaller:

    http://trademarks.justia.com/855/17/orbi-85517235.html

The one you found is for the logo, which has to encompass just about anything and everything it could be stamped on within that park, from equipment to merchandise.

Plenty of people file trademarks with a great deal of information, sometimes just in the off chance they might do something with it... and that totally ignores the now common practice of filing patents for things just to cash in on it if someone else comes up with something that would be covered by it later, or to provide ammunition (offensive or defensive) for any lawsuit covering the items contained within the patent.

That all ignores the fact that the information you continually linked is not elaborate, discrete, or conclusive. It's quite the opposite, it's vague, broad, and unspecific.
If it was "easy" to read into what it was for as you seem to think it is, people would be more likely to agree something "might" be in the works involving it... but it's not, hence why you are standing all alone on it.

There are so many other ways you could read it that make far more sense than a dedicated tablet/gaming device.
