    Default Sega Display Case: SOLD

    SOLD

I picked this up recently. I need some money so I'm taking offers on it (PM me). I am in Madison, Wisconsin. I will ship this, but it is heavy and it would cost a lot.

It's made of all metal and glass, it's heavy, and in great condition. The metal is a gun metal grey color. All the glass is super clean all over, but it's hard to get a good picture of it. There are glass panels on the sides as well. The SEGA logo is screened on the glass doors and imprinted into the top left part of the frame. The front glass doors open by sliding horizontally. There is no key or lock mechanism, just a keyhole in one of the glass doors. There are six glass shelves, but I only have 4 of them installed in the picture. There is a peg board inside on the entire back. There's a light installed in a top compartment in the cabinet that shines down onto the shelves. 28" W x 18" D x 64.5" H

My jaw dropped when I saw this. Man, if it didn't look like it was going to go for what I will spend on my next family car I would be all over it. A trip to Wisconsin would even be fun.

Thanks for the interest. Sorry in advance for my low post count and no feedback. I have a solid trader profile on the Neo Geo forums:

I'm in Madison Wisconsin, are you located near the east side? I'd be interested in taking a look at the case and maybe buying it if I can afford it. Also I sent you a pm about the price.

Very cool, I'd be interested too depending on the price but I have no idea how I'd get it out to CO. Have family in northern IL though so maybe I could beg them

I always find he reactions of collectors hilarious! Always going goo goo eyed at anything gaming related.

To be quite honest, one can easily achieve the same look by creating a moulding with the SEGA logo on the top and bottom of a glass case. The same thing can be said about logo that appears on the glass panels: You can achieve the desired result with the use of etching glass cream, stencils, etc. Getting a professional look will require you to pay an additional fee but not very much. I've actually saved a copy of the above photographs when I am good and ready to purchase similar a similar display case.

Looking at the pictures, it is a nice display item and if it was being sold locally I would definitely consider purchasing it if the cost was less than purchasing a generic glass case and designing the logos myself.

Well one could easily make a repro of an expensive game or decide to emulate consoles, but half of what makes collecting fun is finding those original pieces. In this case it is just a glass case after all and it could probably easily be reproduced but it's the "history" that makes it worth much of anything.

It's funny that you say that. As soon as I saw this I started thinking that I could probably make one myself that looked similar. But like Sparksterz said, it's not just the thing itself, it's the history that went along with it.
