Oh, you haven't heard? Sonic died...yeah it was pretty rough too. It happened years ago.

Uh, there have been several Sonic games (and several spin-offs!) released since the turn of the millennium, dude. Sparkster is a dead character. Awesome Possum is a dead character, and for that I am thankful every day. Sonic ain't dead.

Here is what people are doing to Sega's forums.

Overreacting babies? Definitely (especially since they are attacking Sega of America when it was Sega of Europe who decided they did not like sites making fun of Sonic). Is Sega in the wrong anyway? Yes.
    lol at /b/style forum raid

also sega has lost their way which is why they dont make systems anymore i mean a lot of their new games have sucked
    examples :
the new sonic was crappy (although sadly it was a step in the right direction for sega)
Phantasy star universe could have been better
    shadow the hedgehog was retarded
and sonic heros was also shit

I think he meant figuratively. There are still Sonic games coming out, but for the most part he died a long time ago.

Considering that Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Mega Collection Plus, and Sonic Gems Collection have all passed into their respective systems' Greatest Hits catalogue, I'd say the Sonic series post-2001 is still very much alive and kicking - to the chagrin of Jaded Internet Cynics everywhere, I presume.

Hahaha. Three people. Yuji Naka must be trembling, up there on top of his gigantic pile of money and strippers and cocaine.

You're actually helping me make my point. The best games you listed are compilations of Genesis Sonic titles. Sonic's best days are far behind him.

First up, 'best'. That's your opinion, not necessarily that of the fourteen-year-old comparing a copy of Sonic Heroes, a brand new Sonic game - or Sonic Mega Collection+, which only those who were around for the originals would seriously prefer. C'mon, it's all about demographics.

Secondly, they sold, and sold very well. Summer blockbusters with Ben Stiller as a quirky neurotic guy trying to woo Jennifer Aniston as a totally wacky yet insanely attractive single girl aren't exactly the height of cinematic culture, but for the movie studio it means they get the funding for more ambitious projects. Like, I dunno, Star Wars.

Whatever. Agree to disagree? This could go back and forth for months

I would just like to say that Jennifer Aniston is very plain looking.

Continue with the SEGA related discussions.
