I still think sega will come back in about five years or so because it was sony who killed it sony now is strugiling a bit on there PS3 and lets face it PS2 will be coming to an end soon and psp is not in striking distance so what will happen is sega will keep an eye on the market and if sony doesant do as well sega will probably come out with a new system.

We can all hope that this day will soon become reality, but SEGA (or any company) won't release a new hardware at least until one of the current 3 runners falls out, and that will probably be Sony, but with the deep pockets they have it may be a while until they decide at all to pull the plug on the PS3. If by the end of 2008 the console is still running a distant 3rd like it is now then that could mean the end of the Playstation brand name.
Up on the shelf; it's a bird, it's a plane, it's Sega Genesis! Faster processing than a SNES, more powerful than a TG-16, able to play 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit and CD-ROM games on a single system (with the CD, 32x and power base converter, of course)

I think sony set themeselves up for failure I promise you that and without them sega will renter the market because sony PS1andPS2 both each sold over 100 millon units taking that dominant force out of the way sega therefor dreamcast 2 can be a reality.

There's zero consumer trust in Sega hardware support. Sega creating a new console would be suicide.

It's true, there isn't any. As fondly remembered as the Dreamcast was, Sega announcing any sort of new hardware (console or handheld) would instantly be met with waves of pessimism, skepticism, and perhaps even a wave of mutilation.

If someone told me Sega was coming out with a new console I'd as "Where is your mind?" [/lbandwagon joke]
