I think Amy Rose would be a wonderful character if she were given a crossbow and telepathic powers and you could, like, use her telepathy to move objects and stuff and that would be cool because she would like be a cool female character that can match the male characters. She would also be able to summon hundreds of friends using her telepathic powers to help her, because teamwork and sharing can help everybody get out of any problem. Amy would also have a crossbow so in self-defence she could, like, defend herself from enemies, but because she has a big heart she wouldn't use it unless it were necessary and life and death and stuff.

No, but seriously, the day Amy Rose was made a playable character was the day the series died a little. Yes Sonic Adventure, I bought a Sonic game so I could move slowly through a hall of mirrors and whacking things with a hammer, the only way they could have made that game worse is if they included a character where you had spend your time fishing. Amy Rose should have no moves and not be in any future Sonic game.

Main Character, Side Kick, Rival that's Actually a Good Guy, Rival "Clone", Rival, Love interest. That's already too many characters, but at least they made sense, and they weren't all in the same freaking game.

So, we're going to keep feeding the Sonic troll are we? Okay, I'd guess that the rival clone would be metal sonic from Sonic CD and then Shadow, Rival good guy is Knuckles, Rival is Robotnik and, yeah Sonic doesn't really have a love interest unless it's SATAM's Sally.
