99 bucks. Not bad. I may pick one up as a curiosity.
Confirmed, it will support the Master System:
Basically, the guy says that Brazil is the second largest place with most interest on the console and, since MS was huge there, they decided to include compatibility.
And looks like there's a lot of sreen options with different filters and sizes. That should leave GBA games fine on my TV, my main concern.
Still I'll wait to see the compatibility in general, since current GBA clones are not very good...

The PBC was already announced compatibility. It would be required tho because there is no SMS slot in the system already.
I'm just happy the thing is out! I always wanted a PBC, and I'd rather have something like the Powerbase than the actual PBC that only works on some systems.

ehhh while i dig the controller options & save states (man so many older titles would benefit from that alone) as well as region free, its looking like these android emulators won't touch the original hardware much, if the NES videos are any indicator...and god knows the prior models weren't known for emulating the genesis sound chip too well.
once this thing's hacked into emulating more systems (MAME!) i think ill bite!
If that happens and it can load up Sega CD ISO's I'd be all over this.
Even without that, if it's passable, I might just grab one as well. As much as I love my actual systems, they are getting increasingly hard to keep hooked up to a decent setup. This is at least a cheaper and easier option to play the games without having to resort to a dedicated Retro setup... which I'll probably do anyways, but I just don't have the space for it right now.
The 2 biggest questions I have on it before I get one are:
1) What is the quality like for each of the systems? Is it acceptable, only passable, complete crap?
2) Related to your post and the above. How easy is it to mod? If you can replace the emulator on it with more/better quality ones that makes it a whole lot more worthwhile.
While I would absolutely love to run Sega CD ISO's I just don't see it happening, wasn't it revealed that the Retron 5 is
gonna come without an SD slot? I heard it was specifically designed NOT to run roms.
Would be sweet if someone managed to mod an SD card slot in there though.
Sort of. I mean, if someone had a custom OS for the everdrive it might work, but they load the game up differently, it doesn't just mount the entire SD card up like a HDD.
For something like this, that is what you would need. Basically just the ability to browse the SD card file system and load files from it. Assuming the transfer speed was fast enough it should be fine, otherwise you would need some other way to get the files in. Modding in an SD slot or usb port or some such would certainly be another way to do that.
