Exclusive apparently does mean different things to different people. I have no intention whatsoever of negating actual games released on various platforms. If I implied that in any way I apologize. The games I listed, aside from X-men, were console exclusives for the US Saturn during its lifecycle, that is the way I look at an exclusive. Sorry that gets people all up in arms, it sucks that this discussion has become so virulent, no I don't consider PC or Arcade games in the same market as Console games for that generation.

For me, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Red Alert, etc. on the Saturn or PS1 are versions of PC games on a console. Sega PC stuff are versions of Sega console games on a PC. Virtual On on the Saturn is an exclusive version of Virtual On for consoles, meaning you couldn't get it for other consoles at the time. Virtual On for PC is an Arcade game for PC.

As for personal experience, I bought my first PC at a little over $300 in 1996 along with a buddy who was much more into PCs than I was at the time. It was a 133Mhz pre-MMX pentium compatible Cyrix based system that, apart from Matrox Mystique optimized games, rarely played any new PC games at all. I couldn't get the Sonic & Knuckles collection to run at 60FPS for example and had trouble with the music with any driver. The Celeron 300A based system I upgraded to in 1998 had much less problems, but I didn't know many people with a system even that fast until later in the year, aside from hard core PC gaming enthusiasts. Even then, none of those PC gaming enthusiasts gave a rats ass about ports from Saturn that were already dated looking, and sloppily coded, by PC gaming standards. Experientially, I think these were still to be considered Saturn titles on the PC. Everybody, including myself, wanted Model 2 ports to PC, not Console ports to PC. Only Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtual On for PC offered options for this level of "port".

It was kind of sad really, and not even justified by lower system requirements. Anyway, that's how it happened for me here in Texas and that is worth exactly what it cost you.

Quoted for, ah what's the term. Dammit that first link has significant contributions from StarMist, I miss him.

Actually more like stay away from people to say that Bug is awful... it's a good game, and is one of the better platformers of its time. I love how it's this early take on a platformer in 3d, and has a completely unique style and design that you won't find in any post-Mario 64 3d platformers. Great game! It's super hard, but quite good.

I think it's fair to list games that are arcade ports or were also on PC, but that should be noted. Like, I forgot to mention that PC versions of both Bug! games exist. I should have said that.

Now, the '90s Saturn-to-PC ports generally have a really hard time running on a modern computer, so the Saturn versions would be better for many people, but they certainly exist.

I have a question with respect to the game "Hang On GP" for the SEGA Saturn. I was wondering if the game plays better with a racing wheel instead of the standard SEGA Saturn controller. Everything is well done exceptionally well. It has great sound, the visuals are nice, and the track layout has enough variety to keep the game interesting. If only the game had better controls.

I saw some comments about it being designed for the Racing Wheel a while ago. I haven't been able to confirm that yet. I will test Hang On GP with my wheels tomorrow if I have a chance.

To me, the sluggish, shoddy ass PS1 port of X-MEN VS Street Fighter doesn't even count or exist to me. So the Arcade perfect Saturn version counts as an exclusive.

Thanks very much sheath! The back of the North American manual states that it's compatible with the analog steering wheel. When using a standard controller, the game is hindered by the fact that when traversing through turns, the bike tends to jerk quite a bit and there is risk of over-steering. Overall, it kind of ruins the arcade racing experience. Hopefully we discover that the game was designed with the intent that the player is using a steering wheel instead of a controller. Thanks again!

Me too. Man, I wish I knew what had happened -- at this point I can't help but fear the worst. I sent Melf an email asking him to drop a line to whatever email address SM registered with, but didn't hear anything back. I don't have any personal contact info for him, unfortunately.

Oh, OK, so let's exclude PC as a platform, let's delete the arcades existence, let's ignore the rest of the world and let's avoid the actual reality 'cause you want to prize your Saturn console.
That's just being silly imo. I really couldn't careless if there's a Arcade or PC version , I don't earn enough to have my own Arcade . To me if a game is available only one console then that's a exclusive
