Tomba is from Whoopee Camp and published by SCEA. edit: Whoopee camp was started by ex-Capcom employee Tokuro Fujiwara

I owned Shantae (purchased it back when it was a $50 game) and it never held my interest. There are multitudes of more fun games to play. It is a curiosity piece since it was the last Game Boy Color game to be released, and the graphics are impressive, and it has features for GBA. But as for enjoyment, I'd rather play SMB Deluxe, or just about anything else.

Ninja 5-O is a great game, but I actually enjoy the GG Shinobi games as much if not more.

I kind of hate these threads, they're awfully broad. There's tons of good side-scrolling platformers. I could easily list 300+ games. Do you want a list of over 300 games?

You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.

Well I am trying to find ones more specific along the lines of DKC. Platformers that focus on or excel in unique and challenging level design.

Oh, there's this really good one you should try that's one of my favorite games on the Playstation. It's called Skullmonkeys (Klaymen Klaymen 2 in Japan) and is the sequel to the previous Neverhood game even though that one was a point and click. The easiest way to describe it is DKC for PS1 with claymation, it's amazing.

^I was just sniped in an auction for that one last week. I've wanted it for some time.

I would also, like some others, recommend McDonalds Treasue Land Adventure for the Gen. Treasure developed it right around the same time as Gunstar Heroes. It's a great, fun platformer.

McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure is a game I have high praise for, highly recommend. Also more so recommend Dynamite Headdy, my favorite Genesis game.
