You won't find a better guide than this in any language:

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Black_Tiger again.

Also, a lot of not-used-by-all-people controllers to explore. I think that some games are really dismissed due to people just using the lame motion controller or cheapo shitty stuff.
Yeah, there are a lot of instances where the classic controller is way better then the motion controls (which felt shoehorned in)...still, there were a couple stellar examples of motion control implementation.

I guessed, but I do try not to assume anything. Sites like these tend to be pretty international, and (with the general exception of Asians in my experience) people posting tend to have pretty good English (sometimes better then some native speakers I could name ).

Fair enough. That helps focus some suggestions knowing your prefered genres.

Not at all. I mention them because nintendo 1st party games are one of the main selling points for Nintendo systems. In light of that, I'd probably shift my main recommendation to the PCEngine/TG-16 (which others have already covered pretty well). You aren't the first person I know stating a dislike for N's big IPs, and I can certainly see those arguments.

Fair enough. Yeah, if your interested in checking out fighting games there are better systems for that.

To be fair, I'm not especially fond of them either. I acknowledge their popularity and the general competance at what they do (I think of them more like a PvP brawler in the vein of Final Fight/Streets or Rage, rather then a straight up Fighting Game like a Street Fighter of Fatal Fury

Another interesting Gamecube game that I remembered was this game:

Its also kind of weird, but pretty good.

Again, fair enough. There is always modding the Wii for Homebrew/imports/expanded emulation.

In your case, though, yeah...I'd probably go with PCEngine instead.

I vote X68000. It's the MD on steroids. I know how much I'd enjoy it if I had one. If that's too expensive, then go for the PCE CD. It's the MD's slightly less athletic, slightly more attractive sister.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.
