Default Video Games Dropping Price Faster?

I know for me at least it has a lot to do with what I've seen with WiiU games. But still it seems in very recent years, the prices of NEW video games are dropping earlier and earlier from their initial release date.

Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition (Wii U) $19.99 at Best Buy http://t.co/j31yxnxWiC

    Anyone else seen this trend?

The Xbox version of Arkham City is still $40 or so even at Sam's Club. I think retailers are already reacting to the economic problems we are all hoping will go away.

Maybe for newer games, but classic games keep going up!

I think there's a conspiracy against Nintendo and Sony going on.

Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft pay the difference to the retailers if they drop their prices in order to move consoles.

What you're seeing is only really applicable to the Wii U and the Playstation Vita. They are both bloated money pits surrounded by investment speculation. Nobody is buying Batman on Wii U, because there's no point. The console is too expensive for what it offers, compared to Xbox 360 or PS3 and their massive catalog.

Similarly, the Vita requires overpriced proprietary memory cards, is not fully compatible with PSP & PSOne PSN content, and the PSP is still more viable for most of the majority of software that is worth playing on it.

It's not really conspiracy. It's just poor sales, poor journalism that sensationalizes everything, and in the middle of it all: pissed off self-entitled gamers who complain about everything, pointing at and mocking the weak launches because the next big squirrel didn't zoom by to capture their attention yet.

I don't keep tight tabs on it, but it does seem to me like games for all consoles are getting discounted quicker. I tend to pick up games when they drop to $20; it seems like it takes 6 months for this now instead of a whole year. Of course, this depends greatly on the popularity of the title, but I think there is such a glut of games and consoles that everyone is discounting sooner to try and move more inventory. I think it's a tough time to be a developer...

Here we go again. This is a rumor but apparently Injustice is going to drop down to $34.99 (from $59.99) at Toys R Us this Sunday. This game has been out for 2 weeks. And this is for ALL consoles.. Hope this DOESN'T happen since I just bought this game... But there's another great example...

With the exception of first party Nintendo games most others, from every system, tend to drop in price quickly after release. Unless you have to play the game at release waiting a few weeks will save you quite the dollars.
