It was a 90% 3DS Nintendo Direct. Pretty cool 3DS announcements at that. E3 is right around the corner!

What does this have to do with Earthbound?

I must be the only person on the planet that doesn't really like Earthbound.

So who wants to take bets on how long it will take for the SNES cart price to crash?
Rarity is rarity, being able to play something on another platform won't lower the price of the rare original copy.

There's a lot of people in your boat, it's hard to get into.

I'm not a big Earthbound fan, either.

Rarity will remain, but the demand may go away. And if the demand goes away, the price should come down.

I'm saying this game is going to be re-released. If they alter the game at all to make it "better" for the modern console, it could suck like Earthworm Jim HD on the PS3 does. Then it will have no effect on the value other than possibly making it even more expensive because the original will be better.

RPG's suck so I really don't care about this game. I just don't understand why Nintendo people drool over this game.

It's on virtual console. It's literally just an emulator running the ROM.

I always question the rarity of the game! In the case of Earthbound, I highly doubt that the asking price will fall anytime soon! Most collectors not only want this game in their collection but all paraphernalia (including the walkthrough guide) connected to it! Remember, prior to the release of the game on the Virtual Console, the rom could be obtained online. Gamers, now in their late mid to late 20s or 30s, who grew up on the SNES will still prize the original copy of this game. They possess the disposable income to still buy this game!

It's not rare, just in very high demand. Big difference.

Another thing is that the people who want it think it's rare, which makes it worse.

To me, I'd be happy if it just went down to the $80-$90 price range it was when I bought mine in '09.

Exactly. People really confuse expensive with rare. Outback Joey for the genesis is rare. MUSHA is just overly expensive for how many copies are out there. I think there at least 10 times the number of Earthbound out there in comparison to MUSHA from what I've seen on ebay anyway.

I guess I didn't completely understand it was just going to be the original ROM that was already out there. What a waste of money to buy it on the WiiU. Sorry if my comparison was incorrect.
