The SMS is a pretty underrated system. There are a couple of titles that I'm quite interested in checking out. A few years ago I found out that Ninja Gaiden was released on the system but have yet to find it for a reasonable price. I noticed someone mention that it contained exclusive content. What's are the notable differences when compared it to it's NES counterpart?Another game that I'm quite keen to play is Master of Darkness.
What is the current asking price for both of these games at the moment?
....
EDIT: Just saw the image of the defiled SEGA Master System ... the silver can say ... but the lavender ... you sir are asking for a backhand! (((( TWACKKK ))))![]()

Eh didn't care for the master system. NES was better. Better graphics and music.
Master System games often tried too hard to replicate the arcade graphics to the point that it greatly hindered gameplay and negated any hardware advantages it had. Instead of doing like Nintendo developers and crafting a game that worked well with the hardware w/ the qualities and spirit of the original intact.
Ex: NES Double Dragon and TMNT Arcade. Lacking from the arcade original but still looked, played, and sounded great for the hardware. Ports that are nearly just as memorable as the arcade original.
Altered Beast and Golden Axe ports for SMS. In trying to replicate the arcade so much, you're just left with a slow, choppy mess, that was still lacking graphically from the arcade AND played like shit to boot. Forgettable for sure.
The Master System certainly wasn't without its good qualities but there's a reason NES did much better.
A lot more third party companies making games for it, is the main reason if you ask me. If the likes of SNK, Irem, Capcom, Konami, Square, Enix and them had been able and willing to port at least some of their efforts to the SMS, or even make exclusive games for it, I think it would have done just fine against the NES, and the 8-bit battle would have been a solid precursor to what took place in the 16-bit era. Would the Master System have won? No, but it would have been a closer race than it was.
But, that's just my opinion.
Currently Reviewing: Desert Strike (SMS), Galaxy Force (SMS)
Coming Up:TF3 Side by Side
Done: Jim Power: The Lost Dimension
From a technical standpoint the Mastersystem is mostly supperior to the NES,
but since the NES had a vast 3rd party support it had a lot more games of significant quality.
I would've loved to see the Mastersystem get the 3rd party support it deserved,
We could've seen some really great 8-bit goodnes
Not that there's anything wrong with all we got for the NES, it has a great library.
That has to be the queerest mastersystem I've ever seen.
Luv it <3

You don't see quite as many SMS variations and clone systems as famiclones and nesclones.
Kinda' makes you wish you lived in brazil
I want a MasterSystem Super Compact or MasterSystem Girl now.
I agree.
If SEGA had been a bit more open minded in the 80s, not only would SMS/Mark III had very solid 3rd party support and would have sold strongly, it would have also had a modest market penetration.
In my opinion, I think SMS/Mark III would have had superior NES/Famicom ports. (Imagines, Mega Man 2, Duck Tales on Master System).
