As wonderfully awesome as another streets of rage would be the genre is almost dead. The jump to 3D would kill the series. Its better just to have it end on the high note of SoR3.

I think it was the only one out of the three that I felt had tighter control and moves worth a damn. Its no SOR2/3(control-wise), but I find it better than the previous games.

And the computer controlled player is an interesting novelty, but it never lasted more than 3 levels before biting it (it was pretty stupid)...so you went the rest of the game flying solo.

I'm glad Streets of Rage never made it to 3D. Other classics from the era (Sonic, Toejam and Earl and so on) have tried and failed in 3D. Streets of Rage is all Mega Drive and that's what makes it so awesome (I am also aware that copies for made for the Game Gear and Master System but they don't count).

It wouldn't necessarily kill it. Play Fighting Force for the PlayStation or N64. That is a game based on streets of rage gameplay, yet in all 3d. That was an enjoyable game in my opinion.

Now though, I don't think they should bother with a new SoR 3d title in the future, best to leave the series in the past I would think.

SOR fans are picking up the slack by either bringing out remakes or games that are heavily influenced by it (BOR).

In my opinion the Streets of Rage series are the best Beat em Up for Genesis.

The musics by Yuzo Koshiro and good gameplay became the excellent game.

I had Streets of Rage 2 with box, instruction book, Genesis catalogue, Game Gear catalogue and a Sega Classics AD.

    My opinion for the games:

    - Streets of Rage 1: The first game look like a mix with Double Dragon and Final Fight. Good playability and excellent soundtrack.

    - Streets of Rage 2: The game is better than first game because the graphics improvment and big variety of attacks.
The weak points the game is Adam“s abstence, easily than first game and one ending.

    - Streets of Rage 3: I like this game, but i prefer the Bare Knuckle III, the Japanese version.
I like the improvment of attacks with stars, cut-scences and special attacks with weapons and return of multiple endings.
The weak points the game is the several modifications in USA version, Adam“s abstence and sountrack inferior to the previous games.

    B - Mark

What do you like in Adam, anyway? I hardly see any difference between the three characters of the first Streets of Rage actually.

I missed out on Streets of Rage back in the day.
Though today, Streets of Rage 1 and 2 are probably in my top 5 favorite genesis games.

I used to play Final Fight a lot. Streets of Rage 2 is just perfect and I much prefer it. The best game in the genre, for any system IMO.

Adam was stronger than Blaze and had a further reaching kick than Axel.

But this stuff is all corrected in the later games.

In 2+3 i hardly play as anyone else besides Blaze.

i love SoR and SoR2, but i agree the franchise is dead and should be left alone (as in, no next gen 3D bastardisation) with the exception of someone porting streets of rage remake to mega cd! oh, and of course sticking all 3 games on the next sega megadrive collection!

as for impact- yeah, a big one- everyone had streets of rage-if not for streets of rage i probably wouldn't have bothered with any other side scrolling brawlers. i play final fight cd and still find it pretty tough, i can finish SoR with my eyes shut (no, not really) as i'm sure we all can. but it still gets played!
