so how do you feel about the two n64 zelda titles ?
I liked Mario 64 back in the day, though the gameplay got tedious after a while, so i'd quit.
same thing happened with the DS version, I'd play it and then after a couple levels it would stop being fun.
Oddly enough I enjoy the Zelda games on the N64. The refinements they made to the camera system between Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time really did make a big difference. That and Link seems to control a bit better than Mario. Plus Zelda didn't get nearly as tedious or repetitive as Mario 64.
i rather liked majora's mask although at times it got a bit tedious
I still have both. And only just started majora a few months back.(let my little sister borrow it and she lost it in her hoard)
Anyhow I do remember not liking it because it "felt" like a cheap sequel to the "EPIC" first.
I mean its probably great and I just need to give it a chance, but its the time constraints and overall item questing that left me with the feeling that its "the original Mask quest, only more complex".
Considering I didn't really like(it was ok for what it was) the small mask quest or the big sword quest of the original,(for the same reasons above) Majora never really clicked with me.
But Ocarina Was great in all respects. I do think if they somehow went "star wars" and released Majora first, I would have had a great time with it though.(hindsight never fails)
Well it's too bad that Mario 64 escapes some of you as Majora has escaped me.
Though its NEVER too late to try and catch hold and go for the ride.![]()
zelda oot runs on the same engine as mario 64
but its heavily modified
I had to do a double take that I was actually on Sega 16 when I read Sonic 1 of all games getting bashed by multiple people.
Sonic 1 was not the main reason my younger self needed to buy a Genesis.
Mortal Kombat 1 with blood was.(ABACABB)Even though I always pressed (ABACABBABRA)Its magical!
And Sonic and Sonic 2 were with just about every used system at the time.
I actually got mine in a bundle deal from a private seller one Christmas.
Sonic 1 is great to this very day. And whenever I hook up the Genesis I pop in my copy to hear "SEGA".
Its a great game to me for that one reason alone.![]()
Sonic 1 is a classic for me. It hasn't aged as well as Sonic 2 and 3/Knuckles but the physics are spot on. Controlling Sonic was always addictive for me because of that alone. Even though later Mario games had more depth/exploration/secrets etc, i still loved the way Sonic interacts with the environment more. Heck the physics were so good that they even managed to pull of a very enjoyable pinball level that feels like a proper pinball game (which was superior than the jerky Sonic Pinball game).
The graphics were also state of the art in 1991. When i saw this on a store, i thought it looked better than any game on the arcades. I remember being disappointed by SMW1 graphics on the new, mighty SNES because it looked generic compared to Sonic. Heck, even compared to Sonic's sequels, i still find Green Hill to be the best looking level. The art direction is just phenomenal in that level (i guess they tried their best to make the best possible first impression).
