Considering the console is not even a year old, its pretty pathetic.

I don't dislike Nintendo but I'm getting pretty afraid for them here.

I didn't really understand what they were hoping to accomplish with this platform when they announced it and I still honestly don't get it.

Apparently it's cause they made it Daddy Wii friendly.
Too bad this will ultimately end backwards compatible consoles.
And pave the way for more VC's

Honestly this serves them right for being lazy, they have barely launched anything worth shaking a shit at and as a result nobody really wants one.

If Nintendo actually acted hungry for sales and give people some stellar AAA titles to sink their teeth into, then they might actually buy the console.

guess all of iwata's hyperbole about having learned something fromt he 3ds's launch was just a load of hot air ( surprise surprise )
hopefully nintendo learns something from this
but considering their stubborn nature i doubt it

I am awaiting the real "look you have to buy this system" from Nintendo.
I do have my doubts. And as a whole I don't really think they care. Which I kind of admire.

Because like Atari 2600 3 decades earlier, Nintendo had made a killing on a primitive, casual family friendly machine and believed that if they upgraded it late in its life, they strike gold again. Nintendo thought wrong. They underestimated the Touchscreen concept and treated like a cheap ass, gimmick and thought that they could do a half assed job executing it. Nintendo underestimated the fact that the idea had been better executed by many others.

Nintendo is so desperate, that they're treating Sonic as some sort of final "Ace in Hole" for Wii U console sales. Thinking that Secret Rings sold strong because casuals brought it. No Nintendo, Sonic fanatics who have this weird ass fetish and delusion that Nintendo should buy Sega brought the game and the , Wii had a solid userbase. Not the same with Wii U. Sonic fanatics brought your damn machine, but casuals haven't and they're not going to spend $300 just to play a new Sonic game, when they can download several of them for a few bucks on an Android or iPhone.

The end came a mere 12 months later.

And I doubt that Nintendo is "desperate." It has more money in the bank than most other companies combined, and it could actually discontinue the WiiU in two years or so and release a more powerful console with little effect on its cash flow. Everyone seems to forget that this exact same situation has already happened. The Game Boy's massive sales allowed Nintendo to weather the N64's situation just fine.

Nintendo isn't going to be first or second place this gen, but it will do just fine, even without EA. So long as the Mario Partys, Zeldas, and other franchises continue to flow, the WiiU will last as long as Nintendo wants it to.

    More like 2 years.

If Wii U continues to pull in GameCube- like numbers, than your right. It CAN scratch and survive on Nintendo' s tired old franchises. But that's about it.

the gameboy's massive sales were mostly due to pokemon
the n64 managed to weather thinsg out due to pokemon games on it

sooner or later even pokemon will falter because like cod it hasnt changed a bit
and all that will be left for nintendo are the die hards and nintendo's usual line up ( usually excellent ) games
