Did NES games cost 30 cents bitd and did every kid have instant access to thousands of games, or are just ignoring the facts in front of your face that don't support your theory.... just like a particular news channel?
And do you really believe that getting momentarily stuck in video games is the only reason anyone has ever posted questions or complained on the internet? Your own post, which was literally right in front of your face as you typed it, would contradict that.
Every possible factor you can look at in comparing the lifestyle of today and the circumstances in which a digital download like this is being played are radically different than what it was like experiencing Super Metroid when it was new. The content of games today versus 20 years ago barely comes into play here compared to everything else.
20 years ago, people paid a quarter to play an arcade game once. Today it adds Super Metroid to the list of hundreds of games you own and if that's too steep for you, the super computer in your pocket plays every SNES game ever made for free. But it also lets you socialize with the planet any time, any where, which is infinitely more popular than video games today. Which is why blogs invent imaginary stories like this as filler to mislead anyone who might be tricked into thinking that they're the kid from the Wizard.
Yes, the reason I didn't give up on a frustrating game when I was a kid was because I literally had nothing better to do and nobody to ask for help other than kids who were just as hopeless as me.
Would I have gone on the Internet to look for help if it existed? You bet your ass I would have.
I don't really know what the problem is. The fact that people can seek help on the Internet and sound dumb in the process doesn't take away the fact that you beat those games the hard way.
To me Super Metroid is a classic, a masterpiece of game design. Figuring it out for yourself was half the fun. Today however it's a game that costs 30 cents, looks antique to most kids and can't hope to have the same innovative impact on them as it did on past generations. Times change, tastes change, either deal with it or don't.
*finishes laughing*
Alright, so...
*actually finishes laughing*
Alright, so you're saying that we are no better than these "stupid kids", and yet you're choosing to ignore that this isn't the 90s and the fact that there were so many people exactly like these kids who just didn't have a way to tell the world, and the fact that there's a huge difference between paying 30 cent and $50+, and yet WE're ignoring the, ehm... "facts"? And it pisses you off that we aren't pissed off at a bunch of possibly 3 year old children? Listen, if you want to go find people who agree with you, go to a forum of Nostalgiafags and 90's kids, their one-sided opinion will certainly be the same as yours.
For the record I enjoy a game that's challenging and I'm a lot better at games by far than most people. But I'm not going to use that to hate on the new generation of gamers. Like kimblejustice says video games are just meant for fun people can play them however they like.
Who is hating on the new generation ? Aren't we just pointing out the fact that many of these games by volume are less challenging than the ones we grew up with ? The Moon is still orbiting the Earth, even if it's cloudy where you are and can't see it. The NBA now calls Flagrant fouls just for touching somebodies arm during a lay up, 30 years ago you didn't get one if you clotheslined somebody and scuffled so yes the current view of that sport is labeled softer than before. Just a fact of times.
I think you've decided to shake hands with 'old age" and allowing him to share a room in your quarters. Your memory is fading and you've forgotten what it's like to be a kid. It begins with a soar back, then the use of a cane, and finally your teeth fall out! Then you start to lecture children who pass by your porch with the phrase,"When I was a kid in the late 90s, and I envisioned how awesome games were going to get in the future, THIS WAS NOT WHAT I HAD IN MIND ...."

I miss the days of gaming mags that were actually interesting.
Shame the people at retromags never released a torrent of ALL THEIR STUFF.
all that rapidsharing is annoying.
I don't agree with you, you're automatically a stupid nubcake!
I prefer old fashion gaming from when I was a kid. Is my type of gaming popular today? Heck no! Am I out of date and not very cool? Probably! Will I try modern games? Sure why not, it's better than being an angry old troll who wants an era to return even if it'll never happen.
This puts a smile on my face. Seeing people who're much too young to have been around for the 16 bit era really enjoying the games and systems from that era. This and having emulators on your modern consoles to play the classics. I don't care what modern gaming is like, as long as great games don't become forgotten.
