Super Metroid is the best game on the SNES PERIOD! One of the most underrated games of all time. Super Metroid is reason enough alone to own a Super Nintendo.

No way is Metroid that good. It is very good but,
Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Donkey Kong Countries, Starfox, Super Mario Games(rpg too), F-zero, Uniracers,
Street Fighter Alpha2,Illusion of gaia, Killer instinct, Those are reasons to have a snes.
Oh and Kirby games cuz you need a real snes to play them on.(no clones I have will play those)

How is it underrated when it's one of those games that many people consider one of the best games of all time?

Because there are gamers who do not like this type of game no matter how good it is.
I don't like real sports games so even if they made one where Michael Jordan jumps out your screen and gives you a high five it still wouldn't be "good" to me.

As far as I know, there is no guide for Metroid 2. Then again I never bothered to look for one either.

Link's Awakening has its challenging moments. It's pretty laid back for the most part, so I can see how you could complete it without dying if you know what to do.
I think I was taken back that someone out there actually thought the game was hard. If you're smart (and lucky) you could figure the game out pretty easily. But Dungeon 8 was a effin bitch flying blind. I remember getting mixed up as to which floors/stairs to take where.

The whole reason I ended up beating it was because a girl on my school bus couldn't get past a certain part. I told her to let me borrow it so I could try to get past it. Turns out I really wanted to play it anyhow and ended up beating it before she got it back. Ill give her due, It had some tricky parts to it for someone her age that hadn't played a Zelda game before.

Yeah, but this was someone on DP saying this to me. Which made it that much more puzzling of a comment.

Yeah I found out that if you try to purchase it without any funds, it will eventually give you the option to pay the remainder with a credit card. So I got it for 30 cents. Sorry that you had to pay an extra 2 cents, but that's what you get for being you. You deserve to pay more and you definitely got what you deserved there! It only allows Visa and Mastercard, though.

Anyway I'm glad I can use the official Nintendo Retarded Xbox 360 Controller as the Wii U game Pad just has my hands too far apart to feel natural playing a game like Super Metroid. Still not as good as the SNES controller, though.

Also, I'm wondering... is the ability to play on the Wii U gamepad the only new feature of the Wii U Virtual Console compared to the Wii Virtual Console? I never purchased any Virtual Console crap before because the prices are kind of ridiculous and the emulation not very accurate, at least not for non-Nintendo systems. But Nintendo wants Wii Virtual Console owners to pay an upgrade fee to get the newer super Wii-U mega enhanced versions of the games they had already bought before. Also, can someone tell me where the scanline option is? I'm sure there is one, right? Also, can the Wii U do true 240p?

I am also hearing about Gamecube Virtual Console. Surely it will work with the real discs if you have them when that happens. I have full faith in Nintendo to do the right thing.

A place that, for one week many moons ago, merged with Sega-16 to create the greatest thread in the history of the internet.

So great was this thread that Al Gore, the inventor of the internet, commented on it in his weekly internet podcast.

Of course I speak of DigitPress.

I can't believe you guys are stressing over the WiiU's features. You guys are either loyal Nintendo fanboys, loyal enthusiasts, or rich with money to burn. The WiiU is a useless absolute waste of time and an utter failure. The Dreamcast had a better software line up than the WiiU, and the games just kept on coming. Nintendo better drop the price and release some stellar games. BTW, why not play Super Metroid on your SNES? Are you guys so desperate for some Nintendo WiiU love that you have to resort to the virtual console for some good games? I'm not tying to start a flame war, just calling it as I see it.

Seeing all this disagreeing makes me glad I still have my SNES and a boxed copy of Super Metroid I bought many moons ago still sitting around.
