A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

^^I had forgotten about that one. Laughing my ass off again.
I usually feel like person 1, but know usually sees what happened with person 2 . . . ie I tend to get along with forum members who I know get into trouble with others. Well, aside from complete un-interesting idiots who I wouldn't bother to converse with anyway.![]()
There's a lot of neat/interesting people who just get into stupid fights with others at times (personality clashes mostly) and end up saying really stupid things once would up, including some remarkably intelligent people (and under the right conditions, useful, interesting, and helpful contributors). It's usually not surprising if they get banned, but it's still sad to loose them for those reasons. (and sad that they couldn't get along with certain others . . . not that it wasn't their own fault, but still frustrating and sad IMO)
I've seen it happen here, on Atariage, and on wwiiaircraft.net (which I used to frequent).
Anyway, on a more lighthearted note, there was one member (before my time) who was particularly ridiculous and either a really good troll (or a real concern troll) or just really weird.
I can't remember the username, but I'm sure Rusty and some others know. He was always going on about certain SNES stuff and random things, including something about certain SNES games using mode 7 (which weren't) and how he "knew" this since he had a "broken SNES that didn't have mode 7" or something like that.
I'm pretty sure he topped Zoltor several times over, even that Dreamcast cache thing.

It's sounds like you might have a couple of conversations crossed.
I had thought that the opening sequence to FFIII used mode 7. I also have a SNES that won't display mode 7, but I haven't owned FFIII for a long time now. It would be interesting to try some of those games I had thought were mode 7, with that console. I don't know if I'll ever buy another copy of FFIII again, though.
