But those aren't flash carts, those are dumpers, a totally different device. Neither you nor anyone else can "dump" anything with a flash cartridge.

Errrr... I didn't say anything about Wolf 32x. But please, tell me more of this gigantic Mega Drive homebrew scene that is the primary reason people buy flash carts.

Oh is that one website correct? $100 and it can only do 720p? I hate 720p.

I'll buy it when it's the RETRON6 with N64 abilities with emulator style resolution upscale.

I think this thing sounds promising, if the emulation is good enough....AND Everdrives work with it!

HDMI sounds pretty sweet. My model 1 Genesis looks nice on composite but could be better.

Price seems alright, but I'd like to see how the emulation fares. !00% compatibility is quite a boast.

I can see having this set up in my living room for when I want to play an old game on my HDTV.

so long as it actually plays games as well as it says.

My R3 does have some sound issues (not super bad, but noticable here and there- stuff sounds fuzzy or tinny sometimes) with some games, but the only game that flat out looks bad or doesn't work properly is my copy of Super Spike V-Ball for the NES (the colors are spazzed out; it's like Martian Spike V-Ball). It runs every FX chip SNES game I have fine, Castlevania III fine (the one NES game that's not supposed to work), the Super Gameboy, my Famicom adapter, and every Genny/MD game I've thrown at it... and my collection's nearly a couple of hundred deep. I think it doesn't work with Virtua Racing, but I have that on 32x, so I've never bought the Genesis version.

I think the question for me, more than compatibility (which I've been fairly satisfied with on the R3) is the whole "blowing it up to 720p and looking decent" thing.

Why in the hell are you trolling.

Do I need to teach you how to use google? And here I thought everyone knew how to use it

You must really think I'm a dumbass. I use a cart Dumper that has a USB cable, i hook that to a PC, put the SD card into said PC and copy the rom file over to the SD card, move said SD card to flash cart. Remember you are the one that asked basically how I backed up my carts. I didn't I say that I dumped my carts using my Mega everdrive, I said a device that's hooked to a PC. Oh and BTW I also own a flash cart for my SNES that does have a cart slot to make backups. I also have a gameshark pro for my N64 that I can use to make backups.

Now get the hell out of here.

I do believe the cart slot on that if for other reasons as well, if you have a starfox rom on that device you would need a superFX chipped game in the cart slot for it to work, I also might be used to fool the protection chip. The snes everdrive would be more limited in not being able to play enhancement chip games.

    Everdrive : Long Filenames

Super Ufo : 8.3 filenames and the rest of those old msdos restrictions.

    Everdrive : text menu

Super Ufo : nifty gui's and music!

    Everdrive : Doesn't stink

Super Ufo : Stinks!! (like a weird burned plastic smell, i had mine for a year now and it still stinks)

    Everdrive : No cartslot

Super ufo : cart slot (nice to have if you have real carts, you can backup/upload savegames to real carts with this)
(and of course backup your games to the SD card)

the Super UFO flashcard is a nice cart to have, but the 8.3 filename restrictions really sucks, and you can only have like.. 5 dirs show up,
so you have to make dirs into dirs into dirs into dirs, fat12 restrictions or something.

Personally I like it because its very user friendly, flashcarts like the PowerPak are very badly designed when it comes to saving games,
with this cart you have a lot more freedom with savegames, no need to hold reset for 5 seconds, you just turn off the console,
and choose to backup your save, no need to have an empty save on there, the cart makes it itself.

it just.. it makes me sad, all these new flashcarts are awesome with all their features, they can play bigass Tales of Phantasia,
they can play the super huge uncompressed star ocean rom, they can play DSP roms (if you have the chip build in) you can play
those bigass 10M Mortal Kombat hacks, you can do all kinds of cool shit, yet other then the Super UFO I have not yet seen any
that come with a user friendly gui, and for someone like me who grew up with copiers its just a huge step back.

inb4 "derp its only fur loading romz derp"

sometimes I hook up my Wildcards just to see the gui's, good times.

There's a new unofficial menu for the SNES PowerPak that's friendlier looking:

I actually flashed that to my Powerpak a couple months ago, Its a huge improvement!

But still not Super Wildcard DX material.

(I do hope he tackles the NES powerpak someday, fucking powerpaks and their lame black & white text menu's)

I'm not trolling. I'm pointing out your absurd train of logic. What was your exact quote when you were trying to defend whatever you were doing?

Then you point out that you don't dump anything with your flash cartridge, you dump it with a totally different device, which is a complete contradiction to what you just said. That's the equivalent of me saying I bought this Genesis to play my PS3 games, then when you point out I can't do that, I say "well of course you dunce because I use my PS3 to play PS3 games". Then you proceeded to say how that it isn't really illegal because they're old, not being sold in stores, etc.

Dude, I don't care what you do with your flash cartridges or anything else that you own. What irks me is that every time a discussion on a forum pops up about any type of technology like that (grey-market tech) and somebody points out the elephant in the room, there's always a group of people that feel like they have to trot out these moth-ridden excuses to somehow justify what they do. Do whatever you want to do, but don't feel like you have this sense of entitlement or holier-than-thou attitude where you're so different and aloof from the unwashed masses who *GASP* play commercial ROMs on their flash carts.

You're exactly right. Say what you will about the Super UFO and it's limitations, but damn if that GUI isn't better than the other devices that cost 3x as much. Maybe a firmware update will make it do that clunking and grinding noise while loading the ROM for an "authentic" experience.
