People raged at MS's digital ownership plans and they basically abandoned the entire idea for the moment. With this announcement from Sony I'd be pretty certain MS will bring it back in some fashion as well, assuming that wasn't already part of their revised roadmap already.
The PS3's big advantages over the Xbox 360 were the free online multiplayer and the built-in BluRay. Given that the XboxOne (a stupid name if I ever saw one) has BluRay and the PS4 now charges for online multiplayer and that the two systems have almost idetical hardware specs, it all comes down to the games. Given that the only Xbox exclusive title that interests me is Forza Horizon 2, while the PS4 is loaded with cool games, I agree that the PS4 wins. Gimmicks like allowing friends to play over a network video stream only enhance that win.
To be fair, Diablo 3 was never really a looker to begin with. I also wouldn't ever buy it again, no matter what platform it was on because it's mediocre.
Blizzard is not what it used to be...
The libraries are virtually identical at this point. But both systems have a few exclusives out/coming out to interest me. Getting one does substantially reduce any motivation to get the other however, that's for sure. I have an Xbone now, and won't have a PS4 for awhile, as I was more drawn to what was on MS's system now and coming up. Virtually everything on the PS4 I'd get right now is multiplat.
Which is not much different than the 360/ps3 era either. Almost any game mentioned was available on both (even if not right away). So you tend to stick with one that has something you like better. Be it live vs psn, or the controller, or just where you have more people you know, etc.
I think I'll eventually end up with a XBONE based upon my extreme fanboism and exclusives.
Microsoft however better get their shit straight and allow people with one copy of a game play with more people online, that is absolutely amazing in my eyes by SONY.
Good luck with that one game disk thing and BluRays if you don't live in a major city with the fastest possible Internet speeds. I'm still waiting for any of these conglomerates to make something I haven't already played dozens of times before.

I'd assume it would basically download the digital copy of the game to the other persons system, only the disk check would be a check for the other person continuing to play it. I'd wonder what kind of caveats it would have. Like. Could I just pop in a copy of a game, invite a person to play, then just go to work and let them play it as they want?
Or is it going to require them to be active and in a game with them (co-op, competitive, etc). And I'd also assume it's going to be behind the PSN paywall, as I don't see that being a feature they would let slip in the free side of things.
Maybe some of that has been answered already, but I just haven't seen many of the specifics of it.

Phenomenal.......
Bloodborne looks awesome. From Software makes seriously great looking games. I don't know why Sony hasn't purchased them outright to ensure exclusivity of their games.

Nice looking rag-doll physics!
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."
