The XBOX was a tough system. I've had the same XBOX system for years and it still works like a charm. The DVD player works great, and I have a shit ton of awesome music stored on the hard drive. I was angry with Microsoft for the abrupt way they killed the system. It still had years of life IMO. No way I would ever buy a 360.
I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

Strangely enough, I only just got my Xbox and already I am really enjoying it with so many games. Already I have really liked Burnout 3, Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, Project Gotham Racing, Taito Legends 2 and Goldeneye 2 I meant TimeSplitters 2 so far plus Sega GT 2002, 007 Nightfire and Burnout 1 were quite good. Even then there's some games I have yet to play due to time e.g. Halo, Psi-Ops, RalliSport Challenge 1 & 2, Spikeout, Riddick, Quantum Redshift, MotoGP, Yager, Headhunter 2, the other two Burnouts, Project Gotham Racing 2, Midnight Club 3, Crimson Skies, Colin McRae Rally 3, Dead to Rights, MAX PAYNE and OutRun 2.

For a 2001 console it has some stuff that is still there in gaming today like a hard drive (wasn't it the first console to have a hard drive?), the Controller S that feels comfy is later used as a template for the 360/Xbone/many 3rd party controllers even the PS3 controller had trigger buttons but they aren't as good [even though it was inspired by the Dreamcast controller], popularised console online gaming a bit more at the time and had patches/DLC for a couple of games that are a bane in current gaming.

Now to get them pesky Sega games and Silent Scope Complete then I should be more or less content.

i wasnt too thrilled with how abrubtly ms killed the xbox in favor of the 360 either
the machine could have lasted at least another 3 years along side the 360 as a budget machine

but the xbox did what it set out to do to be microsofts trojan and introductionairy system and set the stage for the 360
after which ms nearly pissed away their reputation and good will they build up over 10 years with the disasterous xbox one showing

but the original xbox is stilla great machine

I want a console that looks like an old Video Recorder, and when you want to change discs you press the
clickity click button and the drive pops up from the top.

Then you insert the disc and press it back manually!

Don't forget Panzer Dragoon Orta and Jet Set Radio Future.

On a side note, I enjoyed Sonic Heroes on Xbox. It was a pretty well done port for SEGA who was a novice at porting games to other platforms at the time.

I've tried to get into Sonic Heroes a couple of times. I love the Sonic Adventure games on Dreamcast, and like them on Gamecube. Something just didn't click for me and Heroes though. People complain about Sonic Adventure 1+2's Sonic levels being on rails but there is a lot of precision maneuvering in that game. Heroes really does feel like an on rails roller coaster and the only precision required is wrapped into which character selected and when to jump. I couldn't get into it.

That thing is awesome. Nothing beats the cool factor of 80's tech.

It was actually one of the last Sonic 3D games I really could connect with and really enjoyed. My Xbox used the S controller, so controlling each of the team members felt more balanced than on the Gamecube controller.
