Default Treasure of the Rudras, What If

So I found out about this game via Hardcoregaming101. They said that if this game came out in the US it would have been out around the same time as Final Fantasy VII. My question is if it did come out, do you think it could have sold well?

Me personally, back then I was big into the Square SNES RPG's. Thought they were great. Like any kid though, Final Fantasy VII heavily intrigued me because it was like a shiny new toy. 3D grqphics, new console, etc. Now even though I was into the Square SNES stuff I can not without a shadow of a doubt say yes I would have still been interested in buying Treasure of the Rudras at that time. I moved on to Playstation and 3D games by then and I wish I could say I would have been all over Rudras if it came out but I cant. The Impetuous of youth I guess. Of course looking back now as an adult had that game come out in the US I would have snatched it up.

It would have done well enough as a SNES RPG, it just wouldn't have been a mainstream super hit as the market was fragmented at the time and RPGs still weren't that popular (only no longer very unpopular). It would have also been very expensive.

Uh, what, FF7? But Treasure of the Rudras released in Japan in April 1996, while FF7 didn't release there until January 1997. Why would it have taken until September 1997 (when FF7 released in the US) to release Rudras? No way would it have taken that long.

One Square RPG for the SNES did release in 1996 in the US, Mario RPG. The game released in Japan in March, and the US in May ('96).

Anyway though, if we to get one more of the 1996 SNES Square RPGs, I think I'm most interested in Treasure Hunter G; I like that more strategic-style battle system more than Rudras' generic menu one.
