Default Using a Model 1 with SCART

Forgive me if this has been answered, but I was under the impression that the model 1 only output mono sound from the rear A/V port no matter what you do. However, if you use a SCART cable will you get stereo sound, or will it still be in mono?

Edit: Never mind. I just discovered they were using a SCART cable with the mixing cable attached.

If you use the standard SCART cable you will get mono sound.
You can get a cable with a seperate 3.5mm plug for sound (e.g. http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/s...e-tv-lead.html) which you can plug into the headphone socket on the MD or better still do the line level output mod and connect it to that.

SCART to Component to TV is the only way to play on a Model 1.

Component is inferior to pure RGB via Scart which the Mega drive outputs natively. Sure, its beats connecting via RF lead but unless you are based e.g. in the USA where SCART equipped TV's are pretty uncommon and / or you don't have a dedicated monitor which accepts RGB input then there is no rationale behind choosing this signal.

Only if you're not in Europe, otherwise it's useless and degrades the signal as any analog conversion.

    Amen!

Another thing you can do is get a SCART lead for a 32x which has the best video out, mixing cable from the model 1 to a model 1 sega cd, and then stereo RCA out. That to me gives the best possible video and sound.

And how is one going to do that? The only solution I can come up with is SCART to YUV converter then out to CRT. You know some tricksy?

The only problem is I don't want that 32X bastard raping my sexy Model 1 Genesis game pussy.

Use an RGB monitor like a Sony PVM or Commodore 1084S, no tricks involved.

I have to heard this story. You found a way for 32x to improve RGB?

How much is lost going from RGB to component, it can't be that much?

Back when I was using AV and then S-Video it got rid of my rainbow banding, obviously RGB is the same however I remember reading somewhere that when mixing the sound through the sega cd it is superior and has been my setup of choice. As far as a SCART lead make certain that it's a quality lead.

Apparently with the 32X it is possible to improve composite output due to a supposedly better video encoder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbQuWGb7510
    Obviously RGB output remains unaffected.
