Wasn't trying to be arrogant, didn't intend it that way. I was saying it wouldn't work wouldn't be loud enough, he didn't believe me and felt he knew better, I snapped.

Or at least use a stereo receiver. However, I did the preamp method on my Japanese Mega Drive and the audio is surprisingly loud. I have no idea if it's because I recapped it or if the VA1 MD has different audio circuitry, but either way it's not quiet at all.

    VA1 model 1 or a model 2?

Model 2's have different circuitry, and are louder before their pre-amps.

Hmm, it shouldn't be that loud going into the pre-amp, that would mean it's then overdriving it, unless your stereo just has sensitive inputs, which is a possibility too..

Well VA0-VA2s had an excessive gain going onto the CXA1034, causing them to be louder than other models and also make the audio clip.

Ouch, I didn't know that, weird.. Well it's clipping so it sounds like Sega smartened up on that.

Still evildragon, you could be more nicer even tho he did not use search, it is not recommended to be arrogant towards newbies. They learn as they find new things and this will happen again and again in future also. If you cannot handle it then i could suggest not posting at all or just the link which should be enough.
I may be new to these forums, but I am not new to forums in general. I did run a search for the pinout first and found nothing. I wouldn't have asked had I. I'm not trying to step on any toes, or try to prove anything. Just trying to learn.

But I never said I knew better. All I was saying is that I was getting conflicting information from another source. If you read through the comments on his videos it shows that many people have tried it and been very satisfied with the results. So, that's why I question things. Simply because I have two sources saying two different things. If I knew better, I wouldn't be here asking for the pinout.

I would like to thank you for posting that thread though. It's been very helpful and I bookmarked it for future use. When I finally do get around to trying this, we'll see how it turns out. If it's too soft I'll have no problem admitting that you were right.
