I can say that its either a bad burn (either because your burning program messed up or the CD burner itself) or the JP ISO of the game is faulty... I am suspecting a bad burn, becasue I know some people are running S1MM on real HW... I should do that aswell...

MCD2 should not have trouble reading CD-Rs... MCD1s may and may not read them...

Well, I just burned S1MM to Verbatim media (at 8X, the slowest my drive will burn) and ran it on my US SCD Model 2. It seems to work fine. I played through the first three acts of the first stage as well as a bonus round (I hate those rotating bonus rounds! ).

Seems like it was a bad burn after all. I've tried to burn Sonic CD Jap on a Verbatim cdr too, at 12x with Nero (it was an iso with a cue file and mp3s), tested it and it worked great. No freezes and everthing working fine .

By the way, how does the "Ram Data" works on Sonic CD? What does it save? I'd like to test the ram on my Mega CD and maybe i could do it with Sonic CD. Or maybe you could recommend me another game to test it (one which saves at the beginning, or which makes a save file on starting it the first time).

I recently got a 32x, and for the most part it works fine. But every so often, the screen jumps slightly. It doesn't do it with regularity, it seems random. I've disconnected and reconnected all the video cables and it still jumps. Any ideas on what's going on or how to fix it?

Or clean up all the contacts there are inside the unit.... 32X is extremely sensitive about the H sync signal on the cartslot, if it not having FULL contact, you can expect similiar weirdnesses...

howdy chaps, just signed up as this looks like the place to be for some good advice!

recently just bought a couple of genny's to relive my childhood

i've fitted a 50/60hz switch to one of my MD2's (PAL) but i have another which has the VA4 motherboard from what i can tell this is one of the final revisions of the board. the problem is i cannot find anywhere (and i've been searching for days!!!!!) a guide on how to region free/50/60hz mod the VA4 version of the motherboard. nor does it have the jumpers found on the other revisions.

also the newest of the megdrives has an odd problem when plugged in with the scart or RF cable, the picture keeps adjusting it self all the time (like it does when auto formatting the screen) its not the tv or the cable as i have already ruled these out. sometimes it works perfectly other times its jumps.

can anyone point me in the right direction?

    thanks in advance

I have no VA4 MD2 (and its the last of the MD2 kind, and first of Genny3 kind uses VA4 MD2 components) so I cannot help with region modding... you way want to look at Genny 3 mods, if the unit has same ASIC as your VA4, then just hope the pics are good enough and show you where the signal ends up on the ASIC

As for RF, I'd just cut the cord off and throw the other end into fire (the cord is useful, rest is not :P) and get a SCART lead instead.

thats a pain then no modding for th VA4 by the looks of it

as for the picture jumping it does it with the SCART and the RF cables not always but most of the time, is there anything i can do to remedy this?

Hi - I just fired up my Sega CD (side by side version, Genesis has headphone jack, reads "High Definition Graphics" on top) and all my lights come on, but I get zero picture. I get full on sound; no crackling or anything. Is it likely that I fried the video card? If that sounds likely, where might I find a new one/instructions on how to change it? I am a domestic engineer with very little know how; any help would be greatly appreciated!

But you get image on MD/Genny alone ? If so, you'll probably have not the greatest contact between MD and MCD... if not, you'll prbably have something wrong with the AV cable...

MD2s are fun to mod IMO, my fav kind of MDs to mod

and I recently did an audio mod for MCD2... once I get scanner that's actually good I'll take some scans and put them up some places I visit.

And for jumping issue, I can suspect nothing but the sync signal which SHOULD be enough, but perhaps your TV is still not too fond of it... try putting a 100µF+ cap in series with the signal and/or you may need to use a resistor (47...100ohm)

I will try the Genesis on it's own - I thought the cables at first too, until I took a set that are known to work and used those. Can I just clean the port with a Q tip and rubbing alcohol or should I just wipe it with a dry Q tip? Thanks! :-)

quick question chaps, i've been searching for an answer but not come across a definate answer. i've got a 32x on the way and want to get a copy of knuckles chaotix but it costs a samll fortune for the PAL version, where-as the NTSC version is cheap as chips!

now i've already added region switches to my MD2 but do i need to mod the 32x in anyway to get it to play an NTSC version of the game? or will my NTSC switch on the MD do the trick?

your help would be greatly appriciated, and if this have been covered before i appologise for being a noob!

The 32X will have to be modded as well.

    Here's a guide to do it: http://sysurl.systranet.com/?systran...5odG1sL2ZyX2Vu

The guide has been translated from French, but it's understandable.

    Hope that helps!
