Yeah, but I was mainly looking for lots, because I can't buy much around my area. Plus, I didn't see too many Model 1's that were cheap or came with any games. So, back to my question, if modding the PBC case is so time-consuming, what would stop me from using a Game Genie?

    MK-1602

    MK-1602

    model-1602-1
    input: 120v ac 60hz 20w output: 10v dc 1.2a

    Genesis Model 1= Input- 120V AC 60Hz 35W Output- 9V DC 1.2A
    Sega CD Model 2=Input 120V AC 60Hz 18W Output- 9V DC 1.2A

The remaining plug you have (Model-1602-1) should be for the Genesis Model 2.

Oh man, I've been using (Input- 120V AC 60Hz 35W Output- 9V DC 1.2A) for Sega CD 1. Would it do any damage?

On the SegaCD unit itself, what are the specs for the power input?

    rating dc 9v 1.2a
    use genesis ac adapter only

I think you're OK, but maybe someone else can comment on this theory:

The system's input specs for voltage and current match the output specs of the adapter (and we know the polarity matches or it wouldn't work at all), so there's nothing to worry about. The input specs for the adapter aren't so important: one of your MK-1602 adapters (9V, 1.2A) seems to be far less efficient than the other because it requires more wattage (almost twice as much) to produce the same output, but the output side of the power adapter is all that matters as concerns the device you're plugging it into.

I got my mono av and rca cables for the Sega CD 1, but the sound studders. I also tried using the av cable by itself but it also studders. Seems like there is something wrong with the machine's sound output.

EDIT: Now the Sega CD won't even power on. I'll have to sell it on ebay for scrap.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear you're having so many problems with your setup. Have you tried using the power adapter you were using on that Sega CD with a Gen1 or other SegaCD to see if it went out or something?

I tried the adapter I used before and it still won't turn on. I give up; back to using the model 2.

is it possible to use a Power Base Converter/Master System Converter through a 32x? I know it'll look wierd as hell, but does it actually work?

From what I've read, no, but it might be possible to run a PBC through a Game Genie. I'm still waiting for someone to test that theory.

PBC will not work though a 32X, and especially not when there's some passthoughs used such as Game Genie.

Hi there im new in the forum but im loving it so far, lets get to the point. i got a sega mega drive model 1 at a good price, i hook it up, and the image was fine, but the sound was very low, and the headphone jack didnt worked, so i have decided to make the AV mod, and i made 2 options, i have at first tried to connect the sound by the headphone zone, and i hadnt any sound, then i used the mono sound from the AV cable zone, and i had the same problem as originaly had, very low sound, so i came here asking for help, what could this problem be, i just dont get how i can have sound but with so low intensity, by the way the chip sound is the yamaha YM2612, and the encoder chip is the SONY CXA1034P. I have read that i could get the sound directly from the sound chip, is that true? One more thing as for the sound, besides being with low intensity, it also has some static sometimes, if you need pics just ask.

    Thank you for your time.

Ok. Maybe this has already been asked, but I am fairly new (and still do not understand the police state of not allowing me to post new threads, Atari Age and Nintendo-Scene both let me post right away), and do not wish to page through all the posts on this thread to see if it has been asked.

I have a Genesis I/Sega CD II combo hooked to my TV through the RFU port on the back of the Genesis I console because I do not have the AV cable for this system. Also, I bought it at a yard sale for a really good deal ($10 for everything) and it did not come with a sounder mixer cable. I made the assumption that I could go to Radio Shack and buy a stereo in/out cable with dual male end fittings, and use this in place of the mixer cable. I have installed this Radio Shack cable between the headphone output jack on the Genesis I console and the "Mixing" port on the rear of the Sega CD II unit. The problem I am having is that I have no sound during cinematic sequences of the CD games I play. Once a game gets to the "start" menu screen, I have sound, and even during game play. But if there is a sequence within a game where the CD plays a cinematic scene, there is again no sound. I have even tried it with my Radio Shack "mixing" cable unplugged, with same results. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem and get sound throughout the entire CD games I play? Thanks.

    Hey, tz101.

We get a lot of spambots, so don't take it personally about not being allowed to start a new thread--we'll still do our best to help.

For Sega CD games, I believe some of the sound (CD audio, etc) is only ever output through the line-level RCA stereo audio output jacks on the back of the system (and possibly the AV output on the Genesis, but not sure about that). Your mixing cable is moving the Genesis sounds over to the Sega CD, and it's mixing it into it's dedicated outputs, but you're presumably just using the audio from the RF adapter, so you're missing out on the Sega CD's sounds. If your stereo or receiver has stereo RCA input jacks, just run a patch cable from the back of the Sega CD to that, and then you should be getting all sounds. Since you're using RF, I doubt there's a way to get your TV to display the RF video and output the RCA sounds at the same time, unfortunately. If you don't have a stereo or receiver in your setup, but you do have AV inputs on the TV, you could consider getting an AV cable for the Genesis 1 (though, at best, this will give you mono sound and may not mix the Sega CD sounds still), and just use the composite video plug from that combined with an audio patch cable (RCA male plugs on both ends) from the Sega CD for the audio into the same set of AV inputs on the TV. That make sense?

konio38: I don't have experience with the question you're asking, but I hope someone else can give some advice here soon.
