    Thanks for the response! However:

Whenever I Ctrl+F belt I only see info on the model 1 SEGA CD, does the model 2 have a belt? Same with the push switch.

Hi! im new to this forum.
I recently bought a sega cd, which i have no experience of at all. it is the 2nd model. I only have Lunar:the silver star atm. The problem i noticed is that sometimes the music just stops, and whenever i do anything
that requires the disc to load, it doesnt even try, it just freezes. so obviously im wondering, what could be causing this?
i already tried cleaning both the laser and the disc.
    thanks

I think its a cd balance issue. That plastic disc on the inside of the lid may be broken, but not apart.
If you have the model 2 genesis on it as well, try turning the whole set up vertically with the cd part above the genny, you will want to have your cd game inside already before turning it.
Also you might want to prop it up on both ends as it could fall over.
I know it sounds crazy but mines doing the exact same thing and its only when the music is read from the disc, and it never cuts out on me when I do this.
It may be harder to turn if you have a model 1 though.

thanks for the tip. That didnt work for me. However i noticed that the music starts up again if try to lift or tilt the console.
So yeah i guess the issue is the balance. The weird thing is, the problem doesnt occur all the time. only in some towns and just now it happened on a boss.
But if it is the balance, what i can i do to actually fix it?

I didn't read @Skoldis's post after mine and thought that tip was for me. I was sitting here turning my SEGA CD on its side and wondering why it wasn't working. haha My bad. Glad it worked for @Skoldis (erm, so far)

Hey, all, I've been throughly enjoying my now working Genesis for a while, but I've noticed a problem that's becoming more and more pronounced as time goes on. The very top portion of the screen constantly jerks from side to side, hardly noticable when actively playing the game, but very obvious when looking at a still screen (such as a title screen or results screen). It seems to be getting worse and worse, and I'm wondering what's causing it. I've tried muptiple games, and they all do the same thing.

    Suggestions?

I suggest you take a picture or video of it so we can see if it's sync or something else.

Well, taking a picture would definitely not portray the problem, because it's relatively subtle movements in the top portion of the screen.

What do you mean by sync?

If you read my post I did also suggest taking a video, for those moments where pictures just don't quite capture the magic.

Hi all! This is my first post in this site and I'm very happy that I've joined the right site.A big thanks about the revisions guide-that's of HUGE help. Now, I'm in the market for some console.I have MD2 but I've always liked Md1 more and my MD2 was bought when I was a kid as a result of a dead MD1.

    Now my questions:
-Is it possible to make Genesis units work in Europe? With some modification? With special adaptor/special thingy for the US adaptor? Since like 80-90% of all listed consoles in ebay are genesis. If it's not possible-can you explain why it's not possible? It's not of a big problem really there are plenty of good EUR/JAP MDs though.
-European Mega Drive or Japanese Mega Drive?? Whats better? What games work on both models and what games don't work? European- plays in PAL, Japanese plays in - ? (I will make the PAL/NTSC modification after I buy it so)
-To play the console I will be using this: Attachment 6961 and for the sound I will be using another cable that will connect the stereo directly to the console through the headphone jack.So is it worth to make that S-video mod or whatever it is called(adding the A/V jacks on the back) is it really needed?

Yes, you just need the appropriate power adapter. They all output 9V DC in the end. Easier to just get a Mega Drive adapter, than one of those 110V>230V voltage converters.

Just get either of them, and region mod either. They're both practically the same hardware, ignoring region settings. Particularly since you'd be modifying the Japanese one anyway.

The attachment doesn't work, but I presume you're talking about a Model 1. If you're really that interested in getting good sound, I'd say get a Model 2 CCAM'd. Barring that, I'd say get the AV ports added for sheer convenience anyway.

I'd try another site version, perhaps ebay.co.uk
ebay.com won't have many European units since few American users import any. Japanese is easier to find here than PAL.

If your TV accepts RGB SCART that's the best video built in. NTSC color on composite shouldn't matter then.
s-video mostly gets added in countries TV makers don't provide RGB.

Many games work anywhere. There's two settings games may use for region differences and/or lockout.
    50hz or 60hz
    English or Japanese language

This gives MD four possible regions. (however 50hz + Japanese is rare. No games require it, few if any official consoles had the setting, many emulators don't bother...)
It's based upon Master System. So effects happen in backwards compatible mode also.

    Genesis uses 60hz, English, & NTSC composite/RF
Japanese uses 60hz, Japanese, & NTSC composite/RF (MD1 does not have an RF modulator installed in Japan)
    European uses 50hz, English, & PAL composite/RF

I don't usually recommend importing the heavy power brick from overseas. Europe units are often rated for similar input to Genesis or Japanese.

And there is NO PROBLEM playing a Genny here(with a MD1 adaptor)????? Oh, thanks, that changes EVERYTHING.

I said that because I didn't knew Genesis could work here, the european is PAL and I was unaware for the japanese.
My idea is to buy a 60hz,English-languaged,Non-TMSS console with the best motherboard revisions(Pre VA5).If it's European which plays PAL - the 50/60hz region mod is MANDATORY since I don't want to play all my games slower by default. But now when I know that the Genesis can work here and the Jap MD plays 60hz too I think I will be getting one of those two.Even then I might make mods just for fun.

I was talking about the Genesis model 1 A/v cable: http://www.wwgaming.com/games-images...1-av-cable.jpg
And my idea is to use this only to get the picture(plug the yellow cable in the tv only) and for the sound I have a cable like that:http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j0...le-AV-209-.jpg
I'm going to use this to link directly to the stereo that sits next to my tv(via the headphone jack of the Sega)

The S-video mod is apparently only for comfort I don't mind the extra cables.

So bottom line a Genny with no region lockout and with 50/60 hz mod I will be able to play almost any games?

Given you're going to be in Europe, get a SCART cable... much better video quality, and less likely to encounter problems related to the 50/60Hz switch (Mega Drive/Genesis's Composite/S-Video output tend to break if set to their non-native refresh rate. RGB has absolutely no issues to do with that. Something to do with the PAL/NTSC subcarrier... best ask someone else about the specifics of that one. Attaching a 32x bypasses the problem, however. Still, use RGB SCART, regardless!)
