If the LED's are on (as they say you are), the fuse is fine.

Hmm, being you used the word "daft" and it's a MegaCD, I guess asking if your in Florida is out of the question. I would have offered to look it over free.

Um, I've only had this happen once before, and it was the Genesis side that had the problem (same symptoms, frozen screen but flashing LEDs).

Do you have another Genesis to try?

That is to hold the cable in place that comes out of the Mega Drive/Genesis headphone jack, goes around the side and into the back of the CD unit (mixing jack). It is there to keep the wire from hanging in front of the CD door as it opens and closes.

I'm from Ireland, would be a bit of a travel

    I do, a megadrive 2.

I hooked it up. The LED's on the Mega-CD where the same (green, and red flashing), but the moving logos where there. no sound, just loud 'white noise'. I pressed reset to try and get the drive to open (even though it didn't say) but it reset and lost the animated logos. turned it on and off and disconnected and reconnected it, but couldn't get the logo's back?

    How odd!

    Any thoughts?

    Update.

Turned it on in the morning and it worked, booted and loaded a game (which was already in the machine).

Turned it on when I came home from work and again it booted and loaded a game (which was already in the machine).

However when it boots the Green is on solid and Red is flashing even though the drive doesn't open at any point. When the game loaded it says the RAM was full. Went into the the RAM menu in the game and there was only one RAM file 'sensi_save'. When I exited the RAM screens the screen went black and stayed black. Turning off and on etc just brought me back to the frozen screen problems of last night.

It seems when I leave it a while (half hour) it boots with moving icons and sound but with no text at the bottom, and doesn't respond to 'start' or 'reset' (which just goes to the frozen screen)........And when I leave it a long long while (several hours) it boots with moving icons and sound with text at the bottom (press start), and when you do it loads a game.

During all of the menu screens it has the Green on solid and Red flashing which I don't think is right?

Could this be a RAM problem? Or do you think it could be the conection between the systems? Or any other thoughts?

    Thanks again.

Red LED should flash when reading data too, I believe your model Sega CD shows the meaning of the LEDs right on the front panel.

I think the battery is dead and is corrupting the RAM causing bad boots sometimes. When you can, with no disc, hit start until you see the CD player. Then go to Options and format it's RAM.

Got the RAM formatted, but it not that.

It still works (briefly) after leaving it alone for a while. When you turn it on if you hit start as soon as it tells you, the game boots, but usually only for about 7 seconds then freezes. Likewise if you don't press start at boot within the first few seconds the screen jolts to the left a bit and the machine doesn't repond to start, or eject with reset.

It is strange because you have to leave it. Once you lose it and it freezes, you can turn it on and off and disconnect and reconnect the megadrive all you want but you can't get it back. But always after leaving it an hour it boots with sound (for a brief bit anyway). Strange no?

Its not rare at all, its a little known fact that the game is very unlucky, cursed infact, and anyone who owns it will know misfortune, so you better be safe and let me have it

oh ok serious answer, yes its the very rare euro release, which I'm guessing you pretty much know already. I'd expect it to fetch something betwee £50 to £100 on ebay.

have you not seen a Euro MegaCD game before? they come in double CD cases wether they have two disks or not. Guess it was segas way of making the games look different on a shelf, I like them as if you get a cracked one its easy to get a replacement case.

Goodness no. I try to avoid PAL stuff because it reminds me of stuff like Puggsy and other Euro games. Also, I hate things like Queens and stuff, so I avoid Euro altogether.

I guess Sega just can't release anything in a normal sized case.
