You need a surface mount CXA1145, I think pinout of KA2195 is same (I don't really remember, I had a MD2 for modding which had VA1 board like my MD2 and it had a KA chip, while mine has some with F on it(and is 1145 compatible))

i just got this puppy up and running and wanted to show it off, despite having not yet finished the cover. it's a model 2 genesis, model 1 supernintendo, and i cheated on the NES by using a gutted yobo. for now i'm calling it TRIO, but i want to add master system compatibility as well.
does anyone know where i can find a master mega converter or master system converter II?

pretty cool and ugly at the same time![]()
I never knew NES carts are SOO big... why can't they be small like SMS, MD(excluding freak EA carts) and FC (which all are pretty much same size)

Master System converters pop up on ebay all the time, the offical smaller Sega ones for the MegadriveII do fetch quite a lot of money, luckily theres unofficial ones too, which are much cheaper.
Looks like a cool project to me, don't forget to show us when its finished.
I guess Nintendo thought bigger carts would seem more impressive, as people would just assume they must have more chips in them than smaller carts for old systems from atari and the like. It does make sense to have empty space in carts, that way if any game boards do need lots of space then they'll still fit in the standard cart. Theres some Nes games with extra processors in them and such.
the VR cart of MD could have been fit into regular sized cart... just remove 3mm of PCB where there's nothing, move the screw holes to different place, or the chips and it would have fit nicely into regular cart... the VR cart is near 70% empty...

But the fancy looking cart sort of helped justify the hefty price tag of the game - it looked like you were getting more for your money.
Just whipped open my VR cart, its got a tall heat sink on the processor, so I'm guessing it runs rather hot, and the empty space in the cart probably helps keep the temperature down aswell as giving space to accomodate the large heatsink.

Hey, got a question about the RF UNIT MK-1632 for Genesis. I can't get any picture or sound. I am hooking it up to the attena input on the back of my tv, I was wondering if im doing something wrong or if the adapter doesnt work with certain televisions. My older tv had a place the cable plugged right into it, and thats where I plugged in the adapter. My new telvivison doesnt, it runs the cable into my DVR and then I have to use audio video cables from the DVR to the tv.
Wanted to bump this, didnt know if anyone could give me an answer or not.
I dunno, maybe the DVR can't convert the Genesis's signal.
Got any more AV inputs? Just buy a cheap AV cable off of ebay. Problem solved, and a better quality picture.
