I never noticed any difference using it with or without the plates. I could never get the plates to fit in a model 2 Genesis anyways (or was it only designed for the model 1?).

They fit just fine in my Model 2. I think they were only needed to pass FCC in the US.

Yeah, I got a 32X that I can use with my models 1 and 2, but I don't wanna use it in the model 1 if it needs the plates. If it doesn't need them (without causing harm to the Genesis/32X) I'll do it without em. :P

Hi guys,

Just bought me a Genesis off of e-bay but controller port 1 doesn't seem to work. It's not the controllers because they work on other systems and there doesn't seem to be any obvious damage to the port.

Any suggestions?

I have a 6 button pad, but my genesis see it as a 3 button pad. I know it cant be the genesis, because my other 6 button pad works flawlessly. any ideas?

could be broken board where the control port is soldered in, open it up and have a look for a hairline fracture where the port is attached.

Have a look to see if the mode button is being held down, usually when you turn on the system and hold the mode button down it makes it act as a 3 button control pad, required for games such as Golden Axe.

Thanks Omp, I did that and there doesn't seem to be anything broken. I did manage to get some movement out of the controller this time round. I was able to go left twice in the menu of my 6-Pak game. Then it failed to move again.

Bad contact perhaps? What's the best way of cleaning the controller port?

yeah, I'm gonna open it up when I get the chance. I figured it may be a loose wire or mode is giving me problems. Thanks Man!

it oddly started being seen as a 6-button pad..weird. but I did mess around with the MODE button a bit.

I have spent over 6 hours attempting to get my Mega Drive working on my JVC LT37DS6BJ LCD without success. I have used the RGB/Scart lead but the picture only lasts 1 second and looks like it trying to adjust the screen size and then goes off completely. Can anyone help?, I have had the system working on a small 17" LCD (kids TV) but really want it on my LCD, please help.

Okay, i've tried to do some research on the forum site as to answer my inquiry & i stumbled upon this thread fortunately. I didn't want to get flamed for starting a thread for a question thats probably been asked a thousand times over.

Being an old school gamer & not up to speed on alot of the lingo & technology (like emulation etc.), i've never owned a MD cart & am thinking of getting some. Particularly some Jap one's first. I just don't understand what you need to do to play them on our NA consoles. Is it a Game Genie?..or is it a 32x?...or some kind of modding?

Is there a simple way to change a pal megadrive 2 to ntsc without the use of switches or anything? I don't mind that it's irreversible as long as it's easy.
