I'm also under the impression that Sega was also pissed because that remake was better than any of there remakes and better than a lot of games that they have came out with over the years.

I was gonna say that that's not true because Sega is a faceless corporation that doesn't care about the quality of their games, just the money it makes.

But then I remembered the cancelled Sega SOR remake, which might have made for a cheap downloadable game.

    Yet Sega cancelled it.

So who knows, I personally am still baffled that Sega even remembered that SOR is their IP.

Same, though maybe with Atlus joining them, we might see some more contemporary remakes of older classics from Sega's backlog. But I'm not holding my breath honestly

The SORR was a good effort but let's face facts: Like it or not SEGA holds the rights behind the Streets of Rage series and as a business, they have every right to prevent third parties from misappropriating their intellectual property.

Nobody is debating their right to sue, we just question their motives.

There's a ton of Sonic fangames but Sega doesn't give a fuck, yet suddenly this one has to be stopped?

Meh, maybe it was the server donation thing.

Part of the answer can be found in this thread:

I enjoyed reading the exchange between Criss (SORR developer) and TheSonicRetard.

More like another Sonic collection with an unlockable SOR game, but they'll just replace it with something else to keep it rated GA.
