Could it be the goal $ amount is actually what it will cost them to develop the game? Not a franchise I found very entertaining though.

With Grant Kirkhope helping, I wouldn't doubt it if he's costing them $300,000.
Hell, Curt Schilling gave like most of Kingdoms of Amalur's budget to R.A. Salvatore just to slap his name on the game's cover. No wonder why Rhode Islanders were pissed.
After listening to the podcast that Chris Tremmel did with BostonBastardBrigade, I feel that these guys should definitely have this project funded. He's a super passionate guy about his work.
Right now I'm biting my tongue, so let's just agree to disagree....
I'm actually a HUGE supporter of the Amiga. The system truly was a wonder of 1980's tech (I'd even go as far as to argue that it's more of a "Artist's Machine" than Steve Jobs ever claimed any of his Apple Products were) and it's certainly something we'll never see again, at least not in this day in age. As for James Pond, just like Dizzy, I have no idea why exactly the game has such a huge cult following. Maybe it's a regional thing

James Pond, Amiga, and Dizzy are all Europeasant trash.
Ummmm, Okay.....Instead of being a complete butt and shooting your mouth off, I'm sure you'd be surprised to learn that the Amiga was made in the US by the folks at Commodore and only had a marginal amount of success in comparison to the Commodore 64.
In the UK for whatever reason, it sold amazingly. Anyway the system was LEAGUES of ahead of anything at the time and it wasn't until the mid to late 90's that regular home computers even remotely caught up. So show a bit of fucking respect for the almighty god of computing artistry that is the Amiga okay?

I for one am still hoping for a Vectorman remake or sequel
