The cart only version comes with inserts to make you're own clam case. Just need a doner case.

And a manual. So it's far from "cart only". Lots of people have bought this version, far from "no-one" as well.

Wouldn't the insert have fold marks ?
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Yes, but it's a special kind of paper, so no ink is lost where the folds are.

The only people bothered by the 100 limited editions are the ones who didn't get the chance to purchase a copy. People who were fast and/or lucky
enough to snag a copy are happy. No way! *sarcasm*

The game was never supposed to be coming in a box. It was a surprise even for me.

It's a WM thing, special edition for their most dedicated buyers.

I asked Fonzie to make a second print, but he won't do it.

The packaging of both editions is simply stunning.

Thank you for providing that piece of information sashadarko. If that is the case, it is in direct contradiction to what was posted on the forums by Tulio Gonçalves:

Hello everyone

When we publish a game, the quantities in which the game is manufacture don't depend solely on WaterMelon. The developer has a say on how many units they want to manufacture and we can give them an educated guess as sales rate and numbers to help with that decision but in the end it's up to the developer to decide how many units they want made.

Given that Sacred Line was our first experience with publishing a developer and our first experience with the genre we decided to play it safe regarding manufacturing quantities.

We're very happy to see that the sales went faster than we predicted and this is another step towards providing a better service on the future products.

Additionally, the success in sales of Sacred Line obviously prompt us to manufacture more units. If the developer wishes to do so we'll work toward that.

I apologize for LINK2LINK messages being deleted. It's not customary to delete messages on our message board considering that the mood here is always peaceful. I didn't get to read what you posted so I won't say it should or shouldn't have been deleted but I express my sincere apologies if you believe we acted improperly. Always feel free to contact us via support so that we can give you a personalized service.

Thank you all for your continued support.

I am glad that I got a chance to voice my criticisms on the WM forums. Mr. Gwénaël "Fonzie" Godde would have deleted all of my posts if I did not disclose that I took screen shots of our discussion. I wonder what they mean by "their most dedicated buyers". I am one of their most dedicated buyers! But that is beside the point! As I keep advocating countless times on the forums, exclusivity should be frowned upon. And that begins with the publisher!

What I had stated previously cannot be disputed:
The only people who benefit from the release of exclusive runs are the resellers who will see the value of scooping the limited run and reselling it on ebay. After all, there were only 100 "special edition" versions released. Only a feeble minded person would fail to see what would transpire as soon as it was announced about the small amount of units sold.

What I find perplexing is the reality that WM's business model would be able to offer a "special edition" version in tandem with the "regular edition". It would give not only the buyer but the publisher the flexibility of including a "boxed version which would include a numbered certificate" or not. Mind boggling, simply mind boggling. Its just another case of restricting product to a select few to the detriment of everyone else.

In closing, thank you for taking the time to respond to my grievance (which for some strange reason was inexplicably deleted by the moderators without my knowledge ).

The reply was for other people who may be upset about not being able to order boxed edition.
Don't try to use my words for your pointless aggressive rants. There are no contradictions.

Rant? Sasha Darko, I will ask you to read the definition of the rant before applying the term in your replies. The definition for your convenience:

rant
rant/
verb

• 1.
speak or shout at length in a wild, impassioned way.
"she was still ranting on about the unfairness of it all"
synonyms: fulminate, go on, hold forth, vociferate, sound off, spout, pontificate, bluster, declaim; More

noun

• 1.
a spell of ranting; a tirade.
"his rants against organized religion"
synonyms: tirade, diatribe, broadside; literaryphilippic
"he went into a rant about them"

And there is clearly a contradiction in what you devulged here and what was communicated on the WM forums.

Maybe Tulio meant another run of the BITS edition of Sacred Line can happen, if the first one sells out.

That's a fair consideration. I was waiting for sasha darko to offer that reply.

In all honesty, I'm only having fun at the moment. (Someone had my previous comment removed)

Yes.

By the way, thank you, Zebbe! From my point of view this release wouldn't exist without your involvement and passion about releasing it (plus Ken's overhaul made the game better).

"Official" unboxing video is now live:
